The world needs to produce more energy with fewer

emissions greenhouse gases if global society is to meet

its development and environmental goals.

Achieving these goals will require significant shifts

in the way the world produces and uses energy over

the course of this century.

Shell’s long-term success relies on our ability to provide

much-needed energy and related products in a way

that is commercially competitive as well as socially

and environmentally responsible.

>250 MMT of Agri-residue & >30 MMT of MSW is burnt without energy recovery in India every year: CO2, CO, fly ash*, Dioxin*, particulate matter pollution

>120 BL of transportation fuels produced from crude oil consumed in India every year. CO, CO2, SOx, NOx, HC, Particulates generated

~90 blpa of premium transportation fuels produced from biomass lowering air pollution significantly

72-92% reduction of GHGfrom current fossil fuels

In Summary

IH2® technology path breaking

The uniqueness of this technology is that it can work on a range of feedstock ranging from municipal

solid waste to agricultural residue, paper, etc. and produce ‘Drop-in’ quality fuels meeting BSVI

specifications

Energy recovery is 3-4 times than any other waste to energy project including 2G ethanol.

Technology has significantly lower water consumption compared to 2G ethanol

Combined with existing residues, it has potential to substitute conservatively ~33% of our crude

requirements at current consumption levels;

>85% higher GHG compared to other technologies, higher if biochar is used as fertilizer (C buried).

Access to waste at affordable prices for IH2® process plants is critical.

Delivers on all the Missions of the Government of India

A big waste problem requires powerful technology like IH2®
