Introduction to Ebb TidesHere at Ebb Tides, we hand harvest a

combination of seaweeds from the beautiful Devon coast and turn them into versatile

products that you can use in your everyday cooking.

• Based on the beautiful Jurassic Coast in East Devon, Ebb Tides was a dream of Tony Coulson’s for many years and finally established in 2016.

• Tony’s knowledge of seaweed, and his belief in its nutritional benefits go back a long time. He’s been eating seaweeds for 30 years. Combined with over 17 years’ experience working in aquaculture & fisheries, as well as environmental protection, he knows his stuff.

The Growth of Seaweed (Mintel 2016)• Seaweed-flavoured food and drink are set to be the next big superfood

trend in Europe.• Europe is now the second most innovative region globally when it

comes to seaweed-flavoured food and drink launches.• 36% of UK consumers who use herbs, spices or seasonings agree that

ground, dried seaweed would be a good alternative to salt for flavouring meals or dishes

“As consumer demand for low-salt products grows, food and drink offerings that reduce the intake of dietary sodium are increasingly

popular. Seaweed is not only a natural way to substitute salt, but also exhibits antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties

which may lower cholesterol, reduce blood pressure, or aid in digestion and weight management.”
