GOOSE (8-1) / SV (9-2) - explanation
• GOOSE and SV messages are time critical messagesand hence there will NOT be any acknowledgements
• Message flows directly from data link layer to RTOSinterface
• GOOSE and SV (9-2) are multicast messages
• GOOSE messages STARTS first time when the dataattribute or status changes of any logical node defined bythe data set.

GOOSE Example….
• How does the subscriber knows of the retransmission andthe new event?– GOOSE message has a STATE number and a SEQUENCE
number for distinguishing between a new event andretransmitted message
– For example, if 600 is the STATE number for new eventand first SEQUENCE will be set to 0
– STATE number remains 600 (if there is no new event) andSEQUENCE will be updated to 1 after first retransmission.
– STATE number changes 601 (new event) and SEQUENCEstarts at 0 and the old message will become obsolete
