James Pearson PR6: Review Of Production When we first started the project we were unsure on what we wanted to do for the show but after searching through the songs that we liked we decided it would be fun to do a show that explores not just one genre but multiple because it presents a new and fresh look on the radio station giving them more songs from more genres. The response that we got on the surveys that we presented were reasonable and gave us an insight on what people think of the type of music that they listen to and whether they thought that the choice that we made was good or they thought that more could have been added or taken away to make it better and many of the responses said that we could improve on the speech in the show and we needed more work on the script the next time that we are doing a project to do with recording. In the show I think that we nailed most of the songs and we achieved what we were trying to do by mixing the genres and I think that the way that we made the show more social by having guest on the show and talking about how much they love each genre of music and that was the whole point of our radio show, each genre can be connected in some way by bringing listeners of different listeners together to listen to the mix. However there is something I would like to change if we did it again I would like to focus more on the presenting skills because there were parts in the show that we needed to improve because there were a few mishaps in the speech because in parts we forgot what we were saying and we stopped for a brief moment, so for the next time we need to read more of the script mixed with the natural speech so it can be mixed and fluent at the same time so it could sound natural and structured at the same time.

PR6: Review Of Production

When we first started the project we were unsure on what we wanted to do for the show but after searching through the songs that we liked we decided it would be fun to do a show that explores not just one genre but multiple because it presents a new and fresh look on the radio station giving them more songs from more genres.

Overall I think the show was a success because even though we made a few mistakes with the speech and sound I think that we had accomplished everything that we set out to do on this project because we successfully mixed the genres and the response that we got for the genres of music that we used were good and I think this is because we wanted to mix the genres but we didn’t want it all to be to diverse because we wanted a certain set of music to go with the other but at the same time would be numerically different but not enough to effect the fluidity of the shows running.

The editing of the show was reasonable considering that this is the first time that I have used the software, it is obvious that I need some more practise on the program but for a start I think that I

succeeded in making that show sound a lot more alive with the sound beds in the background faintly playing as we talked in between the songs.

With the songs that we chose for the show I feel like we should have added more heavy songs to it because in the show It seemed like it a one of not part of the show so the next time we do it I think that we should add more from the more heavy genre to get a real diverse feel for the show and keep the audience exited for what song is coming next.

When we were putting together the plans for this show we wanted to know what type of music everybody listened to, so we put together a survey that indicated what sort of music the people in the class listened to and the genres were very spread out which was shown in the 5 results graph so instead of sticking to one genre we decided to take the results from the survey and mix the genres so everybody wins and that is when we came up with the idea merging the genres is a good way of reaching out to the target audience and is also a good way of introducing other people to different genres and when it comes to the survey the results will be more positive because they will have listened to their favourite music and listened to a new type of music that they might come to like in the future.

However when we did the final edit we could have edited out more of the sounds that were around us, for example when one of the songs ended and it went into the speech we could hear an instrument which was coming from another room and it sort of ruined the speech session for a few seconds and if I was to do it again I would focus more on the timing of the speech and make sure that every unwanted sound in the recording is edited out so we have a smooth running audio in the edit.

With the research came the Idea for the music that we were going to use and we had our own ideas for the music and we mixed in the ideas given to us by the other people in the group and by then we had the show we wanted and all we had to do now was put it together.

The final edit that we did for the show was hard to put together, because there were gaps to fill in and the way to do that was to select the length of the show that you wanted to remove and delete it and move the sequence closer together, to make the show seem more fluent. The one thing I would change about this sequence edit is to remove more of the gaps to make it sound less spread out and more fluent; this is something I need to improve on for the next time I am editing a show.
