On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the encyclical Humanae Vitae 2008, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops issued a statement entitled "Liberating potential" (see CCCB website for text). The following historical note by Msgr. Foy was produced shortly thereafter. It was published in the June 2009 issue of Catholic Insight, as well as by Lifesitenews.
