An Epistle from Paul:

Keep the Main Thing! – This past Sunday we covered an important principle to which we as the Lord’s Church must hold – “Keep the main thing the main thing!” Let me use the following to expand on that principle.

A young ensign, after nearly completing his first overseas cruise, was given an opportunity to display his abilities at getting the ship under way. With a stream of commands, he had the decks buzzing with men and soon the ship was streaming out the channel en route to home. His efficiency established a new record for getting a destroyer under way. Because of this he was not surprised when a seaman approached him with a message from the captain. He was a bit taken back; however, to find the message to be a radio message and even more surprised to read: “My personal congratulations upon completing your underway preparation exercise according to the book and with amazing speed. In your haste; however, you have overlooked one of the unwritten rules – make sure the captain is aboard before getting under way!”

Each week as we set sail as a local congregation after dismissing Sunday assembly, we need to make sure the Captain (Jesus our Lord) is aboard AND to be sure we keep the main reason for our existence ever before us. What is that main reason? Very simply: “TO WIN THE LOST AND TO BUILD THE WON.” Another way to express and remember this is as follows: W2 S2 (Won 2 Win and Saved 2 Serve). How we need to remind each other the need we each have to keep the main thing the main thing always! Let’s practice W2 S2 all this coming week!!

In an Effort to Better Communicate!

You will note that we have been trying to do a better job of communicating what all is taking place in the worship and service of the Lord’s Church here. One area this should be evident is in the fact that monthly “church calendars” are being prepared and set out on the table in the foyer, as well as, you will soon find these on our website and new facebook page. These should give you a quick overview of events and happenings taking place during the present and future months. Be sure to check these out as we continue to improve in the area of communications. For future reference, if you have something to be placed on the church calendar, please be sure to get this to us at least two weeks before the month begins…

Our Next Meetings!

Gideon’s Corps are reminded that Group 1 will be meeting next Sunday, February 17 here at the building at 2 PM. Group 2 will be meeting next Wednesday, February 20 at the Jon/Missy Riegers’ at 6:30 PM. We will be covering chapter six in the yellow book. March’s assignment begins with the first three chapters in the blue book. We will be meeting the first Saturday in March (2nd) here at the building at 9 AM. We look forward to our meetings together!! A couple of our men have not received their blue books yet. Get in touch with Paul and he will be sure to get these to you directly!!!

Our Next Wednesday Luncheon is Set!

Wednesday, February 20th will be our next Wednesday Luncheon. We will be meeting together at the Eaton Pizza Hut (remember nobody can out pizza the hut!) at High Noon. We’ll enjoy some good food… have some sweet Christian fellowship… and be led in another solid devotion by Ed Bell… If you want to come and need a ride, please let us know…!!

New Piano Ordered!

It was decided by the leadership last Sunday that a new piano be ordered. Our present acoustic piano has been having problems holding its tune as of late. Several in the church family did some homework and gave a recommendation to the men to consider. It was decided to order a new Yamaha Clavinova CLP-645. This is a digital piano that will never need to be tuned and will give us many years of reliable service for now and into the future. Be listening for this very soon!
