Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology was established in the year 1980 by Late

Sri M.H. Jayaprakash Narayan, Ex-MLA, Ex-Syndicate / Senate Mem-

ber of Bangalore University and Founder Managing Trustee of PVP

Welfare Trust and Secretary of Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, was

a visionary and an educationist. He was a strong follower of the principles of

Bharatha Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, he came from a very humble background.

He fought relentlessly for the upliftment of the downtrodden. He believed that

education is the main path for the emancipation of the oppressed classes and

started a number of educational institutions to cater to all levels of education in

Bengaluru.

It is always a pleasure to release the online Newsletter. Promoting innova-

tion and holistic growth of the students & faculty is at the heart of Dr. AIT.

The orientation programme for freshers prepare them to face the challenges of

the four years course. Renowned personalities from all walks of the society

come and share their experience, enrich the young minds so that they look

ahead for the precious years of their life. Our students apart from academics

excel in sports by competing in state and national level events.

The management relentlessly promotes the innovative minds by funding &

sponsoring the R & D projects. This has earned many national & international

patents and publications to the institute. The Newsletter publishes the activities

of the departments which shows the connectivity to the industry which is an

essential facet of the present day academics. Wishing you a joyful reading

INDUCTION PROGRAMME : Aug 9 to 20 Aug 2019

The Induction program for the academic year 2019-20 was inaugurated on 9th August

2019. The chief guests were Prof. S.C. Sharma, Director NAAC, Bengaluru, Prof.K.Ramesh,

Director, NIBM, Guwahati. Alumni, parents and the freshers also shared their ideas about the

college, reason behind choosing the institute.

The students were briefed about the autonomous academic regulations, examination

processes and vertical progression. The sessions were held by the Principal Dr. C Nanjundas-

wamy, Dean Academic Dr. M Meenakshi and Controller of Examination Dr. G Rajendra. Later

the students along with their parents were taken to visit the whole college to have a familiarity

of the institution.

The different activities arranged for the students included test and skills to check the

English and Computer proficiency. various extra-curricular and Cultural activities like debate,

pick & speak, group discussions, quiz, singing, dancing, painting etc.

Trainers from VVKI (The Art of Living) trained the students on various aspects of hu-

man values and pranayama etc. Sessions on Yoga were also included. Professor S.N.Omkar

from IISc Bangalore spoke on how Yoga can be connected to various disciplines in life. He de-

fined the eight limbs as yama (abstinences), niyama (observances), asana (yoga postures),

pranayama (breath control), pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), dharana (concentration),

dhyana (meditation) and samadhi (absorption) in connection with educating oneself as an engi-

neer and become a useful citizen of the country.

Psychotherapist Dr. Padmashree Rao spoke on how stress can be controlled and turned

into positive attitude through simple exercises. The students were advised to visit old age

homes, orphanages, hospitals etc to kindle the empathy in them.

An alumnus Dr. Balamurugan of 1987 batch spoke on how to achieve laurels in life

and how the education at the college helped him to grow up in life. At the end of the 10 days

programme the students gave their feedback.

The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Shashipriya Head of Humanities

department. The department coordinators were helpful in monitoring the daily activities.

Induction Activities

The first graduation day was held during the year 2014. Since then thousands of students have been graduated

from Dr. AIT. This year 1244 students graduated and at each programme the topper was awarded with Gold

medal. 18 special medals were awarded at the institute level and 19 at the department level and many cash

prizes were given away.

Prof. V K Aatre, former director DRDO and former Scientific Advisor to Defense Minister Govt. of

India was the chief guest on the graduation day. Who in his message wrote that the graduated students are a

privileged group who have been trained and educated in an institution like this and they are endowed with the

additional responsibility to make this as a spring board to use their knowledge for the betterment of the society

and our nation and indeed humanity. And he also in his address to the graduates stressed that for India to be-

come a developed nation she has to be strong in the manufacturing technology and not just in the service sector.

And urged the graduates to use science & technology in bringing path breaking development to the nation

Dr. P.G. Diwakar Director EDPO, ISRO inaugurated the function and delivered a key note

address on various satellite based remote sensing techniques and mechanism used at ISRO

from 1962 to till date. He also explained applications of GST such as water conservation,

utilization for agriculture and various challenges faced by day to day life due to misuse of

environment. He also pointed the applicability of GST in disaster management.

Dr Pallav Baruva Professor Department Maths and Computer Science talked about set mem-

bership problem using hash function which is applicable in GST.

Dr. Vikram Ghadre, Professor department of Electrical Engineer, IIIT Mumbai delivered a

talk on introduction to DSP covering the topics like sine function, aliasing, basics of impulse

function.

Dr. Hebbar Scientist G RRSC explained about different types of satellites launched by ISRO

for evaluating weather agriculture and prediction of rain. He also explained the importance

of GST for employment services like lake preservation,NGO service for educationg water

harvesting and Jalla shakthi(water protection). He also explained the importance of chandra-

yana 2.

Dr. S. N. Omkar chief scientist department of Aerospace IISC delivered a invited talk on

drone technology and its application for human service. He explained drone utility in captur-

ing video analysis of paddy field of kerala state, mango yield of kollar district, He also ex-

plained the importance of yoga and essential requirement of being good student who can use

GST application career.

Dr. K.C. Gowda Scientist G of C-4 paradigm high performance computing lab (CSIR) deliv-

ered a talk on application of GST and its uses for common man in fishing in the ocean, driv-

ing uber services , metrology and weather forecasting.

Department of Medical Electronics

On Campus Industrial Training Programme on Advanced Embedded system Design and IOT

Applications in Association with EdGate Technologies : The training was provided as an ac-

tivity under TEXAS instruments Innovation Centre. Nearly 45 students underwent the train-

ing , and acquired the skills to work with the TI software tool Energia, Wi-fi Protocols, Inter-

net protocols, ARM processors, MSP 430 and also on IOT. And participants worked on hard-

ware interface implementation and IOT based modules. Their knowledge and understanding of

the training domain was put to test through the Hackathon contest and TI online contest or-

gainsed as a part of the programme.

Industrial Visit

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Science & Technology SCTIMST , Trivandrum 2nd May 2019. The pre final and final year students accompanied by faculty visited the premier

biomedical institute in the country. The research institute contributes to the indigenous devel-

opment of medical devices in the country. Many devices were developed namely heart valve

prosthesis, blood bag systems, ophthalmic sponge, concentric needle electrode and many more.

The artificial heart valve is currently manufactured and marketed by TTK.
