On the negative side, there may be a level of stress that comes into our lives, as our schedules become more hectic. This can lead to a level of exhaustion and a burden on our personal schedules, which can lead to frustration. For some, it becomes a time of increased financial stress. On the positive side, it is a time of excitement and joy, as we can enjoy seeing family and friends. In this newsletter article I want to focus on the Thanksgiving season. Historically, what we know of as Thanksgiving began as an opportunity for the pilgrims to gather to thank God for His blessings. As a national holiday, our founding fathers established it again to be a time to express our deep gratitude to God for His blessings on our lives. As we come off our Thanksgiving celebrations, a reminder of some things we want to make sure we are thankful for: 1. God’s gift of His Son 2. Some of these tasks included: • Estimating growth projections for K-12 aged students for our area and then developing the appropriate marketing plans to reach them • Analyzing our historical financials and projecting a budget for the next 3 years • Documenting how we communicate to all of our stakeholders and identifying which tools are the most effective • Reviewing the focus group feedback to identify our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats All of the board members were assigned a task with the responsibility to come to the November meeting with drafts of their assigned tasks. These drafts were reviewed and vetted. Tasks will be completed for final review at our December meeting with John Storey. What is your class motto and verse for this year? “Full Circle Commitment” Phil. 1:20 How did you arrive at this motto and verse as a senior class? The motto is actually based off the verse, which says “Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death,” hence “Full Circle Commitment”. What does 'Full Circle of Commitment mean to you? For me, “Full Circle Commitment” means going out of my way on a day to day basis to show Christ’s love to those around me, regardless of my circumstances. What are some of the goals of your senior class for the year? Our class desires to emphasize service, i.e. the Service Day, and showing the love of Christ to the entire school. We would like to connect with the younger classes and be a positive, godly influence in their lives. We are also striving to connect with the exchange students, seeing as most of them aren’t saved, and need to see the difference that Christ can make in a believer’s life. What are some of your goals as the Sr Class President? Personally my goals are not much different from those of the class, but as classpresident, it is my responsibility to be a good example to my class. While we as a class are striving to influence the younger students, we are notperfect, so it is my responsibility to lead in a way that helps the rest of our class to carry out the responsibilities that we have been tasked with. Can you tell us a little about your Community Service Day? While our class was establishing how we wanted to make our impact last year,we decided that service would be a key aspect, and began to think of ways that we could fulfill that goal. One of our ideas was this Service Day,and I was tasked with leading it. I decided that a good way to get into the community was through a park cleanup day, and so I talked with theParks and Recreation Director of Perkasie and started to plan out our day. The park that our high school went to was Lenape Park in Perkasie, where we did general cleanup of trash, replanted trees, fixed fences, and mulched a dog park. Our goal for this event was to serve thecommunity of Perkasie, while also displaying a Christ-like testimony to everyone involved.

LIFE VERSE: II Thessalonians 3:3 "But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you againstthe evil one." What has been your favorite part about teaching at UBCS? I have loved watching our students over the course of their high school years. It is great seeing how Godis at work in their lives and watching them grapple with biblical truth. As they wrestle with truth, they arechanged by it. What does Christian Education mean to you? Christian education is not just keeping our youth protected from certain elements of the world. It is raisingthem up in a biblical worldview and giving them the tools necessary to be productive, Christian citizens ofthis world. As you work with today's young people, what advice do you have for them about knowing whatGod wants them to do with their life? I would encourage them to love God, study hard, learn broadly and explore things that they like to do.Typically, what they love to do and are developing in are indicators of what God has gifted them in. Asthey are growing in these areas, outsiders will often affirm where they see God growing them. God hascreated each of our teens as image-bearers of God with unique gifts and abilities. These gifts can furtherthe kingdom of Christ and allow them to be light in the areas that God has called them.
