Art Objects The following tables expand on those found in Chapter 7 of the Dungeon Master's Guide. These items provide interesting and occasionally unique items to populate treasure hoards. Most of the following art objects have inherent value due to the materials used in their construction: precious metals and stones. Other items might be valuable because of the skill of the craftsmen. However, a few items in the chart have a more abstract value, and fetch a high price due to their historical or cultural significance. At the Dungeon Master's discretion these items might be more challenging to sell. These might require finding a particular wealthy collector or art dealer before they can be sold.

Trade Goods In place of coins, gems, or art objects, a creature’s treasure hoard can contain trade goods.

Trade goods are mundane items of inherent value, easily sold or bartered to most merchants. Unlike art objects, trade goods are perishable, and many are frequently heavy, requiring wagons to transport.

Many monsters, such as bandits or evil humanoids, might favour trade goods over “shiny metal trinkets”.
