CPSC Mission – Goals of EPR

To shift California’s product waste management system from one focused on

government funded and ratepayer financed waste diversion to one that relies on producer

responsibility in order to reduce public costs and drive improvements in product design that

promote environmental sustainability.

NATIONAL STEWARDSHIP ACTION COUNCIL

Who is NSAC?

The National Stewardship Action Council (NSAC) is a network of committed proponents comprised of

NATIONAL STEWARDSHIP ACTION COUNCIL

The Birth of NSAC – Why Now?We needed more tools in the toolbox!

NSAC was founded in 2015 as an affiliate CPSC

CPSC, which is a 501(c)(3) and under IRS rules, may only conduct limited legislative lobbying activities.

With CPSC’s legislative successes in California have come increasing demands from across the country for assistance, creating the need for a 501c(4)that can carry work forward without lobbying limits, and on a national scale and allow lobbying anywhere in the US and involvement in elections for public office.

How Does Great HHW Data Support Producer Responsibility?

• Data is used to “make the case” for the need for a bill• Data informs decisionmakers and drafters of

legislation• Measuring success of a program means you have a

baseline and good ongoing data collection!• Good HHW data informs CPSC on which producers

and their products are the problem!

Waste Isn’t Waste.“Waste” is a collection of resources

that we’ve decided are more expediently buried or burned than

reused or recycled.
