Key Word : reliability, validity, item difficulty and item discrimination
power.
Teaching is related the learning process and testing is related to an
evaluation process. One of instrument that often used in evaluation process is a
testing. To asses the student’s achievement, the teacher must conduct the test. Test
that made by the teacher called teacher made test. The midterm test construct by
the teacher. It is still to be questioned whether the test is valid and reliable or not,
because teacher rarely tried out the test first before giving it to the students.
Knowing the fact, the writer analyzes the test so that the teacher will know the
quality of the test.
In this research, the writer chooses SMA 1 Gebog Kudus as a subject of
her observation because in this place there are few teachers who do analysis in test
that they have made. The writer also found in midterm test there are a lot of
students got score under KKM or under 76.
The objectives of this research are (i) Todescribe the reliability found in
English Midterm test of the tenth grade students at even semester of SMAN 1
Gebog Kudus in Academic Year 2012/2013. (ii) To describe the validity found in
English Midterm test of the tenth grade students at even semester of SMAN 1
Gebog Kudus in Academic Year 2012/2013. (iii) To describe the item difficulty
found in English Midterm test of the tenth grade students at even semester of
SMAN 1 Gebog Kudus in Academic Year 2012/2013. (vi) Todescribe the item
discrimination power found in English Midterm test of the tenth grade students at
even semester of SMAN 1 Gebog Kudus in Academic Year 2012/2013.
The research was conducted in descriptive qualitative research. The data of
the research are the analysis of reliability, validity, item difficulty and
discrimination power. The data source of this research are taken from the
question sheet and answer sheet of the midterm test of tenth grade students at
even semester in Academic year 2012/2013 at SMAN 1 Gebog Kudus.
The result of the research showed that the reliability of English Midterm
Test of tenth grade students at even semester of SMAN 1 Gebog Kudus in
academic year 2012/2013 is categorized high reliability. Face validity of the
midterm test of tenth grade students at even semester of SMAN 1 Gebog Kudus
in academic year 2012/2013 is categorized lack face validity. The content validity
of English Midterm Test of tenth grade students at even semester of SMAN 1
Gebog Kudus in academic year 2012/2013 is categorized good. The construct
validity of English Midterm Test of tenth grade students at even semester of

SMAN 1 Gebog Kudus in academic year 2012/2013 is categorized good. The
item difficulty of English Midterm Test of tenth grade students at even semester
of SMAN 1 Gebog Kudus in academic year 2012/2013 is categorized easy item
(value 0.71 Up to 1.00). The item discrimination power of English Midterm Test
of tenth grade students at even semester of SMAN 1 Gebog Kudus in academic
year 2012/2013 is poor with discrimination value between 0.00 – 0.20.
Based on the result of research above, the writer concludes that an analysis
of English Midterm Test of the tenth grade students at even semester of SMA 1
GebogKudus in Academic Year 2012/2013 is a good test based on the
characteristic of good test.

Pengajaran berhubungan dengan proses pembelajaran dan tes berhubungan
dengan suatu proses evaluasi. Salah satu instrument yang sering digunakan dip
roses evaluasi pembelajaran adalah tes. Untuk menguji pencapaian siswa, guru
harus membuat sebuah tes. Tes yang dibuat oleh guru disebut tes buatan guru.
Soal mid semester dibuat oleh guru. Hal ini masih menjadi pertanyaan apakah tes
valid dan reliable atau tidak, karena guru jarang mengadakan uji coba tes sebelum
diberikan kepada siswa. Mengetahui faktanya, penulis menganalisis test sehingga
guru akan mengetahui kualitas dari tes tersebut.
Di penelitian ini, penulis memilih SMA 1 Gebog Kudus sebagai subjek
observasinya karena di sekolah ini ada sedikit guru yang menganalisis tes yang
mereka buat. Penulis juga mendapati banyak siswa yang memperoleh nilai
dibawah KKM atau dibawah nilai 76.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (i) untuk mendeskripsikan reliabilitas
yang ada di soal bahasa Inggris mid semester ganjil kelas sepuluh di SMA 1
Gebog Kudus tahun pelajaran 2012/2013. (ii) untuk mendeskripsikan validitas
yang ada di soal bahasa Inggris mid semester ganjil kelas sepuluh di SMA 1
Gebog Kudus tahun pelajaran 2012/2013. (iii) untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat
kesulitan siswa yang ada di soal bahsa Inggris mid semester ganjil kelas sepuluh
di SMA 1 Gebog Kudus tahun pelajaran 2012/2013. (iv) untuk mendeskripsikan
day pembeda yang ada di soal bahasa Inggris mid semester ganjil kelas sepuluh di
SMA 1 Gebog Kudus tahun pelajaran 2012/2013.
Penelitian adalah penelitian diskripsi kualitatif. Data penelitian ini adalah
bentuk analisis reliability, validity, tingkat kesulitan dan daya pembeda. Sumber
data penelitian ini adalah dari lembar soal dan lembar jawaban mid semester
ganjil SMA 1 Gebog kudus tahun pelajaran 2012/2013.
Hasil dari peneletian ini menunjukkan bahwa reliabilitas soal bahasa
Inggris mid semester ganjil kelas sepuluh di SMA 1 Gebog Kudus tahun pelajaran
2012/2013 adalah kategori reliabilitas tinggi. Validitas fisik dalam soal bahasa
inggris mid semester ganjil kelas sepuluh di SMA 1 Gebog Kudus tahun pelajaran
2012/2013 adalah kategori validitas fisik lemah. Validitas isi dalam soal bahasa
inggris mid semester ganjil kelas sepuluh di SMA 1 Gebog Kudus tahun pelajaran
2012/2013 adalah kategori validitas isi baik. Validitas konstruk dalam soal bahasa
inggris mid semester ganjil kelas sepuluh di SMA 1 Gebog Kudus tahun pelajaran
2012/2013 adalah kategori validitas konstruk baik. Tingkat kesukaran dalam soal

bahasa inggris mid semester ganjil kelas sepuluh di SMA 1 Gebog Kudus tahun
pelajaran 2012/2013 adalah kategori soal yang mudah (dengan level 0,71 sampai
1,00). Daya pembeda soal bahasa inggris mid semester ganjil kelas sepuluh di
SMA 1 Gebog Kudus tahun pelajaran 2012/2013 adalah kategori lemah (dengan
level 0,00 sampai 0,20).
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diatas, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa analisis
Soal Bahasa Inggris Mid Semester Satu Kelas Sepuluh di SMA 1 Gebog Kudus
Tahun Pelajaran 2012/2013 adalah tes yang baik berdasarkan karakteristik tes
yang baik.
