The beauty of Raja Ampat Islands as the highest marine diversity on the planet, beautiful topside scenery and awesome underwater topography diving, has attracted many visitors to come and see the stunningly scenery themselves.

To accommodate the increasing number of visitors that arrive, the need of good accommodation has become initial intention.

But because of their remote areas, located off the northwest tip of Bird's Head Peninsula on the island of New Guinea, in Indonesia's West Papua province, one of the biggest challenge is how to get building materials.

The using of discarded shipping containers can be the solution for this problem.

Dormitory a residence hall consisting of 6 sleeping beds each floor, equipped with pantry & common room and 2 standard bathrooms.

Family Villa 2-level residence house with living-room on the first floor, and 2 bedrooms with en-suite on the second floor.

Containers are in many ways an ideal building material because they are strong, durable, stackable, cuttable, movable, modular, plentiful and relatively cheap. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

Shipping_container_architecture).

Discarded shipping containers can be found in container port in Sorong, West Papua.

A modification has to be made to these used shipping-containers. But because of its modular size, all shipping containers are made to standard measurements and can be combined into larger structures. This simplifies design, planning and transport.

The welding and cutting of steel is considered to be specialized labour and can increase construction costs, yet overall the costs are still lower than conventional construction.
