Our music video features a reference of alcohol abuse after experiencing a bad relationship . I figured out that looking into music videos of an artist who has experienced this and has songs that primarily focus on that relationship would help us gain inspiration for the visuals/ theme and atmosphere that we could use and adapt into our media product. I knew that Amy Winehouse had a past of alcohol abuse and sung about her relationships, she primarily focused on her emotions and interpreted them through her music and this contains the features of the R&B genre that we are focusing on. The ‘You Know I’m No Good’ music video has a similar storyline with links to our idea for our music video with references of alcohol, a relationship, aggression and cheating.. Etc. There is a scene of Amy and her lover in a bed together , doing this shows the audience that there is a relationship between the two identities. More on, they caress each other which yet again confirms the relationship between the two characters and therefore through altering a scene like this we could make the relationship status more clear. We should take note of the movement of the hands as they speak for impression of the emotions that are being portrayed. As out music video is from the R&B genre we must portray the emotions of the lyrics in the song very visibly to relate to the genre. The lighting is dark to resemble how the characters feel and to create the right atmosphere of unhappiness. As the setting and surroundings are dark, it puts a focus on the characters in the visuals who are wearing clothes with more colour than everything else that is presented in the frame. Amy holds a glass of alcohol and puts the glass against her head to show the dependence that she has on it . When putting it against her head where her brain is it creates the message that she’s letting the alcohol think for her which shows that she is depending on it. Her boyfriend is shown shaking her and questioning her about her cheating on him whilst at the same time showing her pictures of proof, this was an idea of ours also.
