In what ways does your media product use,

develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Use?My media product uses the generic conventions of an RnB music

magazine as I had to use some of the conventions as my brief was to make a music magazine so I had to follow the basic

conventions. When making my front cover I used a main image which also made my background. I also used sub-images as on a conventional music front cover the page is full and has no empty spaces. I also used colours such as red and yellow when writing text and using vector images as these colours stand out to the audience and makes the magazine appealing as it is harsh. The font that I used also is similar to a conventional RnB magazine font as it is bold and square. When making my double page

spread I used the generic conventions of using a drop capital to start the article and used a pull quote within the article. My image also took up half of the spread which seemed to be a

commonly used idea when constructing a double page spread.

Develop?

I have developed the generic conventions of an RnB music magazine when making my contents page by using several

images and one main image which is placed in the centre of the page instead of just one main image. However the images are still related to the RnB genre. I also have

developed the generic conventions of a contents page as the background is white instead of a picture as the

background.

Challenge? When producing my magazine I have only challenged the generic conventions of an RnB music magazine by using a

female as the main artist on my front cover. In a conventional magazine the main artist is usually a male and

features throughout. Overall I have not challenged the generic conventions of a RnB music magazine as I felt that in order to appeal to my target audience I needed to use the generic conventions of a music magazine. However I needed to develop them slightly to make the product my own and not exactly the same as other RnB magazines.
