Designing Public Spaces

▪ Create a strong sense of community, create that “third space”.

▪ Tame traffic – parking.

▪ Introduce new kinds of park activities (designated green space for lawn bowling, gazebo for wedding photos, larger concrete space for events, markets, etc.)

▪ Bring new people downtown (creating visibility/directional signage from downtown).

▪ Make kids healthier – new improved play structures, accessible, and for all ages.

▪ Improve safety/security – increased lighting at washrooms and pathways.

▪ Provide clean public restrooms – options for a facelift of the existing washrooms and/or potentially to create year-round facilities.

Next Steps

▪ The committee will review the feedback gathered.

▪ Budgets/Costing will be discussed prepared.

▪ Phasing/Timing will be considered.

▪ Partnership opportunities will be sought out with the community groups and the Town plans to continue working together to achieve the ideal community park.

▪ Grant application opportunities also will be sought out.
