And ECI2018 in Amsterdam promises to continue this tradition by staging a truly memorable scientific eventfor all attending!

EFIS, together with our local host, the Dutch Society for Immunology (NVVI), will work to ensure a stimulating three days during which you as a sponsor can interact with a wide range of participants, laboratory and practicing clinical scientists alike. Welcome Message from the ECI 2018 Congress President

Dear colleague,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you on behalf of the European

Federation of Immunological Societies and the Dutch Society of

Immunology (NVVI) to the 5th European Congress of Immunology (ECI) in

Amsterdam from September 2-5, 2018.

The previous meeting of ECI in Vienna in 2015 was a great success and contained a good

company exhibition and strong networking possibilities. We would now like to draw your attention

to ECI 2018 and the opportunity to reach a highly interesting target audience for your products,

comprising both biomedical scientists and medical clinicians.

With the 5th ECI in 2018 we will build an European village of immunology in Amsterdam. Basic and

clinical researchers from academia and industry can dive into immunology, discuss science and

form new collaborations. The 5th ECI will cover all fields of modern immunology, ranging from

innate memory and tissue specific regulation of T/B cell differentiation to unsupervised analyses

of big data for evaluation of immunomodulatory biologicals. The special focus of the 5th ECI will

be ‘Building Bridges’. The Dutch take pride in being expert bridge builders, physically to handle

water, but also figuratively to connect people and facilitate mutual goals. We aim to show you

that this is true.

ECI 2018 will bring together:

• researchers working in the field of fundamental and applied immunology, biomedical

sciences, cell biology and chemistry.

• clinical chemists and medical immunologists working in the field of clinical diagnostics.

• clinicians working in the field of immune-mediated diseases and/or immunomodulatory

therapies.

ECI 2018 is an attractive congress for medical specialists treating patients, as immunology has

become an essential part in modern clinical medicine, diagnosis and patient care. We offer

continuing medical education (CME) credits to all delegates in accordance with UEMS – EACCME

regulations. In the meeting we will discuss the pathogenesis of auto immune and inflammatory

diseases and cancer and the etiology of primary and secondary immunodeficiency diseases.

Novel forms of clinical immune interventions and diagnostics in the field of vaccination,

autoimmunity, allergy, immunodeficiency and cancer will be given a prominent place, since their

societal benefits are a good example of the potent applicability of our scientific discipline. We

will specifically dedicate sessions to identify new discoveries in fundamental immunology that

hold diagnostic and therapeutic promise.

Special sessions will highlight technological innovations in biomedical

research (e.g. cellular phenotyping and separation; antibody technologies;

fluorescent tracing; (sub)cellular imaging and quantification techniques;

proteomic, metabolomic and genetic profiling; animal models and

mutagenesis; DNA/RNA targeting and silencing technologies; etc.). This will

be offered in close cooperation with partners from industry. Here, we will

connect to interdisciplinary fields, like big data management, systems biology and

multidimensional systems imaging. There will be ample space for company-sponsored symposia

allowing to feature specific aspects of immunology.

Our total program offers 150+ talks by invited speakers, with state-of-the art presentations by top

of the bill immunologists and clinicians. More than 400 oral presentations will be selected from

submitted abstracts. We will have poster sessions and guided poster walks that enable exchange

of data and networking and communication throughout the European immunology community.

As you may know of previous years, we offer a full range of sponsorship options to allow your

company to optimally participate in ECI 2018. We will make sure that your company will fully

benefit from all networking options. For this goal, we made the company exhibition area the heart

of the venue. It is centrally localized, in the midst of lecture halls, poster areas and walkways. In

Program Outline

The 5th ECI will cover all fields of modern immunology, ranging from innatememory and tissue specific regulation of T and B cell differentiation to unsupervised analyses of big data for diagnostics and combinational immunomodulatory biologicals.

In the meeting we will specifically dedicate sessions to identify new discoveries in fundamentalimmunology that hold diagnostic and therapeutic promise and to tackle challenges that arise from connecting fundamental and translational science. We will bring in scientists from interdisciplinary fields, like data management, systems biology and multidimensional systems imaging to form beachheads for novel directions of immunological research and optimised evaluations of clinical trials.

With the 5th ECI we attempt to build an European village of immunology in Amsterdam. Here basicand clinical researchers can dive into immunology, discuss science and form new collaborations without feeling submerged by the size of the meeting. Our program offers 150+talks by invited speakers, with exemplary keynote lectures and state-of-the field presentations bytop of the bill immunologists. The group of invited speakers contains not only established world-leading scientists in basic and translational immunology, but also front-runners in clinical immunomodulatory therapies and up-and-coming scientists, who are changing current immunological concepts through novel scientific approaches. To give ample exposure to excitingnew data from the whole immunological society, more than 400 oral presentations will be selectedfrom submitted abstracts. We aim to have poster sessions and guided poster walks that will allowstrong exposure of all research and stimulate discussions and networking. A number of posters willbe selected for specific airing and data discussion via electronic poster boards. Special attentionwill be devoted to the education of our young scientists and students. To this end a bright sparkssession for young scientists will be organized. In addition, the 5th ECI will feature a number of satellite meetings dealing with related topics.

Symposia & Progress in Technology Sessions – General Terms & Conditions

* Industry sponsored symposia must be held in English.

* Industry sponsored symposia slots will be allocated on a first-come,

first-served basis, taking into consideration the company’s sponsorship of

ECI 2018 and the company’s level of ECI sponsorship.

* The duration of industry sponsored symposia is 60, 75 or 90 minutes (depending on your sympo-

sium type) - any violation of the scheduled time will incur additional charges.

* All mentions of the sponsor names and/or logos as well as all mentions of the specific type of

support (on the website and in all printed matters) will have to comply with the current UEMS

regulations. The ECI sponsorship management will take the necessary steps to ensure these

regulations are complied with.

* Product demonstrations are prohibited during industry sponsored symposia.

Speakers:

The sponsoring company must cover all speakers’ expenses (registration, accommodation, travel)

also for speakers that are already part of the general scientific program of the ECI 2018.

Companies are strongly encouraged to make sure their speakers preload all presentations and

introductory slides at the Speaker Preview Centre. Presentations must be delivered to the Preview

Centre at least two hours prior to the session, in order to be transferred to the central server (private

laptops may only be used for special reasons and only if requested prior to the conference). It is

the sponsors’ duty to inform their speakers adequately concerning the Speaker Preview Centre,

Registration, etc.. No respective information will be sent to the speakers of the industry sponsored

symposia by ECI 2018. This information will be sent to the sponsor only.

Room Size:

It is the company’s responsibility to select an adequately sized room to accommodate all

attendees. All doors will be monitored by the organizer’s staff to prevent overcrowding. In cases

where this is not respected, and for obvious security reasons, the venue’s staff has the authority

to refuse admission to the rooms.

Topics:

All reasonable care will be taken to avoid any topic overlapping between industry sponsored

symposia. However, the ECI does not accept liability for any deviation from this procedure or the

consequences which might arise from this, such as low attendance.

Catering:

Lunch bags have to be provided at the industry sponsored lunch symposia. Expenses for the lunch

bags are not included in the symposium fee. The catering has to be ordered from the official

caterer.

Symposia & Progress in Technology Sessions – General Terms & Conditions

Advertising & Promotion:

The ECI will publish confirmed industry sponsored symposia on the ECI

website mentioning only the date and time of each industry sponsored

symposium – as soon as the details are submitted and finalised, these can

also be published on the website. The final program will also contain all

details submitted by the company until the appropriate deadline (see

deadlines). Any extension (if possible) of the published deadlines may only

be granted under special circumstances.

As the ECI 2018 attends to apply for CME accreditation of its meeting by the European Union of

Medical Specialists (UEMS), all mentions of the sponsor names and / or logos, as well as all mentions

of the specific type of support (e.g. “sponsored by an unconditional grant by…”) on the conference

website and in all printed matters will have to comply with the current UEMS regulations. Sponsors

cannot enforce any type of display or recognition on either website or any printed matter which

would conflict with the UEMS rules and therefore jeopardize the accreditation.

All marketing activities and promotional material relating to this activity must be approved by the

ECI Organizing Secretariat before distribution in print or online. For those materials sponsors may

use the official ECI logo.

During the ECI, the distribution of promotional material for the industry sponsored symposium is

only allowed on the booth. The placement of a signage outside the industry sponsored symposium

room is only permitted half an hour before the start of the symposium. Advertising of any other

kind is strictly forbidden.

CME Accreditation:

Industry sponsored symposia are not considered to be part of the official program and will not be

considered for CME points. According to EACCME, sponsored sessions cannot apply for CME

accreditation. Therefore any application for CME points from the sponsors’ side for industry

sponsored symposia is strictly forbidden.

Presentation Quality Standards:

Industry sponsored symposia should be of an educational nature and must include a formal

presentation or procedural instruction. The content of the proposed program should

demonstrate scientific rigour and objectivity; commercial references should be avoided unless

necessary. A balanced presentation of the topic should be given in every industry sponsored

symposia.

Pocket Programme - the printed version will be handed out to all participants during the congress (approx. 4,000)

The pocket programme is an essential congress publication including information on the scientific

programme, all necessary general information, sponsored symposia and the exhibition etc.
