-WHAT IS YOUR PRIMARY PROCESS? WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS PROCESS?

2.2 PRODUCT FUNCTION
- With your selected material, how is your material compatible with product geometry and manufacturing processes?
- What is the normal applied load to the material? Can your material take such load?
- What is the normal ambient conditions to your material?
- With your selected manufacturing process, how is your process compatible with the product geometry?

2.3 MANUFACTURING COST
![Page 8: Amp’s cut](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022081603/558a0d12d8b42a66438b4768/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Total manufacturing cost (TMC) = Material (M) + Tooling (T) + Processing (P)
The material costs per part can be calculated as: Let M = total materials costs (raw, bulk) q = production quantity The material costs per part, cM is cM = M/q = (cost/weight x weight) / number of parts Let cw = material cost per unit weight wp = weight of finished part ww= weight of wasted material, scrap a = ratio of wasted material weight / finished weight = ww / wp
![Page 9: Amp’s cut](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022081603/558a0d12d8b42a66438b4768/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
cM = cw wp (1+ a)
cM ( acrylic) = ( 140 baht /kg)*(0.2 kg/part)*(1+0.25)
= 35 baht/part cM (steel) = (20 baht/kg)*(0.1
kg/part)*(1+0.05) = 2.1 baht/part cM = cM ( acrylic) + cM (steel) = 37.1 baht/ part
![Page 10: Amp’s cut](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022081603/558a0d12d8b42a66438b4768/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
The processing cost per part, cP is Let ct = cost per hour, (machine rate
+ labor) t = cycle time (hours per part) then cP = ct t
cP = (20 baht/hr)*(0.30 hr/part) = 6 baht/part
![Page 11: Amp’s cut](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022081603/558a0d12d8b42a66438b4768/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
The tooling cost per part, cT is
cT = T/qT= total cost of molds, fixtures per product run
q= number of parts per run
cT=0
![Page 12: Amp’s cut](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022081603/558a0d12d8b42a66438b4768/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
c = cM + cT + cP
C = 37.1 + 0 + 6
C = 43.1 baht/part
