No residue…

The Pharma-Room: Surface Wash does not form a film -film implies oils or residues that require rinsing off.

The Pharma-Room: Surface Wash does not leave aresidue or require rinsing. The Pharma-Room: SurfaceWash is made of pure, deionized water and CLO2 gas.Water enhances the sanitizing effect of CLO2 in severalways, one of which is because it works better in humidity(heavier air), allowing the CLO2 gas to dwell on the surfacefor longer.

…Just Residual effects

CLO2 has been shown to have residual effects, because itdoesn't combine with other things easily (unlike activeingredients in other disinfectants), so it doesn't get "spent" notdoing its job. It destroys organisms via oxidation, etc. In fact,CLO2 is an internationally recommended water purifierbecause it does not react with chemicals or organics.

Because of this, CLO2 has a high kill rate at low dosage.CLO2 is small enough to disinfect in pores and crevices. It isvery good at penetrating biofilm, so micro-organisms don’t geta chance to immediately and prolifically recolonize thesanitized space.

a rough analogy:

A very, very rough analogy might be to what happenswhen you spray household ammonia (window cleaner)on a surface.

The spray goes into the air and onto the target surfaceas you spray it. The smell of the ammonia lingers duringits “dwell time”, then evaporates from the surface, leaving no residue (which is why it is good for cleaningwindows.)

However, household ammonia is not a colloid.Household ammonia is a gas in a homogenous solutionwith water.

The Pharma-Room: Surface Wash is a colloid of CLO2gas in water, meaning it does not blend with the water, but remains a separate entity suspended in the water.

What’s a colloid?

A colloid is a mixture that is between a chemical solutionand a suspension. A suspension will separate out, a colloidwill not. A chemical solution will become a homogenousmixture (blend), a colloid will not. Chlorine dioxide is anunusual colloid since it is a gas bubble in a liquid and notan emulsion (liquid in a liquid) like milk.

One property of a colloid is the phenomenon known asBrownian motion, basically microscopic bubbles movingabout in liquid at different rates depending on the forcesoperating within the liquid. In The Pharma-Room: SurfaceWash, molecules in water act with unequal force on CLO2gas bubbles, causing them to remain in constant, randommotion that keeps them evenly suspended throughout thevolume of the water.

The integrity and power of a colloidal system is a factor ofthe interplay among size and charge. CLO2 will remain insuspension as long as no disruptive influence intrudes, such as a disruptive charge or a physical force.

Colloidal benefits:

If you were to look at a spray bottle of The Pharma-Room:Surface Wash through a powerful microscope, you wouldsee a dilute colloidal suspension of gas bubbles. Thebubbles move around. The gas is unstable. The gas wantsto escape the solution into the air in the bottle or throughthe wall of the bottle by which it is contained.

Colloids burst (precipitate out of suspension) when thesolution goes through a nozzle, such as when such a liquidis sprayed. A coarse spray will not burst as many bubblesas a fine mist. The faint smell of the CLO2 comes from theburst bubbles.

THE PHARMA ROOM delivery:

7

Mixing CLO2 tablets creates a solution wherein the CLO2gas is not captured by any process. Thus, when themixing container is opened or the solution sprayed, muchof the CLO2 swiftly dissipates into the air, and cannot beefficiently delivered to your target surface.

The Pharma-Room: Surface Wash’s proprietary gas capture technology not only suspends CLO2 gas in water, but also results in maximum delivery to the target surface. With The Pharma-Room: Surface Wash, CLO2 molecules suspended within water droplets hit the target surface where it precipitates out and dwells on the surface first, before evaporating into the air.

MAKING CONTACT:In general spraying things onto a surface will result insome beading depending upon the surface tension of thewater. Sometimes the surface tension is adjusted with asurfactant but with The Pharma-Room: Surface Wash, thatis not needed.

The molecular weight of air is about 29. The molecularweight of CLO2 is about 67. The beading of The Pharma-Room: Surface Wash on the surface allows the CLO2 inThe Pharma-Room: Surface Wash to precipitate out ofsuspension due to the disruptive influence of the charge ofthe target surface and the action that occurs duringspraying (which of course, puts heavier-than-air CLO2 incontact with the surface).

One might wonder, “OK for horizontal surfaces but..”Actually, the product also contacts vertical and upside-down surfaces also because of the inertia of the sprayedliquid. Underneath the beads, the impact of the spray andthe internal energy of the colloid cause the gas to bereleased to vertical and upside-down surfaces also.
