AR15.com News and Updates
AR15.com
Honeoye Falls, NY -(Ammoland.com)- It would seem that the news is
growing each month. This month we’re featuring more videos including
them both in the Training Tips section as well as a supplement to the
Direct from DirectAction columns.
In addition, we’re including several new products that are really exciting,
and links to a few videos there as well.
Featured Products
Our featured product for the month is the Battle Arms Development
Ambidextrous Safely Selector (otherwise known as a BAD-ASS). This
has been a very well received product on our site, and is one of the few
parts I plan to put on each and every one of my ARs (others include the
BCMGUNFIGHTER Charging Handle and PWS compensators, both to
be discussed in more detail on a future writeup).
Also, next month look for gear from Bravo Company in this update.
These guys have been producing a great product for many years, and you
can’t go anywhere these days to train and not run into a number of BCM
rifles used by people who know their ARs and could have any rifle they
want.

Recent Site Updates
Recently we created a new search engine for the site, a very long overdue
and highly requested tool. This month, we’ll talk a little about it and
some of the extra features which many of you may not be familiar with
(or even aware of).
The basic search functions still focus on keyword and user searching, but
have been expanded to provide more options. For example, a keyword
search is no longer limited to phrases. With a drop down box, located
under the keyword field, you can select the search to focus on a PHRASE
(combination of all words), or search for ALL (each keyword is found)
or ANY (any keyword is found) keywords. In addition you can now
search through the body of posts and not just subjects. In user searches,
you can enter the username and search for topic authors or replies by
that specific user. User searching can be combined with keyword
searching to create a very specific result set.
We’ve also extended other existing options and added new sorting and
display choices. The date range allows you to search on a few date ranges
with a newer/older option to ensure you find what you need when your
mind can’t remember specifics. The addition of sorting options now
allow you to get your results displayed how you prefer them, be it by the
author’s name, the number of replies (most popular first), or when the
posts were created. To finalize the display options, you now have the
ability to see the results as either a list of topics, which has been the
standard for years, or to view them as posts. The post option provides
you with a short summary of the specific thread which matched your
keyword search. This means if you search for a specific keyword, you will
see all the resulting posts, regardless if they were topics or replies, where
those keywords were found. In addition, each resulting summary will
have a link directly to that post, regardless of it’s location in a discussion
thread.

A pair of extras were added for Gold+ Team Members. Keyword
highlighting within threads jumped to from the search is now available.
This makes finding your searched keywords much quicker! Auto-
completion of usernames was also added to make it easier to find the
user’s name for those searches when you are looking for a long or
complicated name. As an optional reference, the auto-completed names
are shown to the right of the user box to be used if you desire.
About:
AR15.Com originated in 1996 as a mailing list for firearm enthusiasts. As
the years passed and interest grew, a website came into existence to
present those same enthusiasts with a means to collect, share, and
explore information. Shortly afterwards, a bulletin board was added to
create a more interactive experience for the growing list of users. The site
was still in it’s infancy, but was growing in popularity. Visit:

Ohio FHFH Coordinators Needed to Fight Hunger
Volunteer to make a difference.
Ohio Department Natural Resources
COLUMBUS, OH --(Ammoland.com)- The Ohio Department of
Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife has collaborated with
Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH) in an effort to assist
with the processing costs associated with donating venison to Ohio food
banks.
“Last year’s effort in Ohio was great, with 44 of Ohio’s 88
counties receiving part of the 122,221 pounds of donated
meat,” said Josh Wilson, operations director for FHFH.
“Our volunteer organization can still use your help as part of
the state is without coordinators or meat processors.”
Anyone interested in becoming a local Ohio FHFH coordinator or a
participating meat processor should visit the “Local FHFH” page at
fhfh.org. The current list of coordinators along with their program names
and the counties they are serving can be found there.
Prospective volunteers or meat processors can contact one of the existing
coordinators to discuss time commitment or any other questions they
might have about becoming a FHFH coordinator or meat processor.
Responsibilities of a local coordinator:
• Organizing a network of at least one inspected, insured meat
processor to cut, package and freeze the donated deer and one food
bank or feeding ministry to distribute the meat to the hungry.
• Developing a fundraising plan to raise the money needed to cover
the meat processing and other local program expenses. FHFH will
help you select some fundraising events and projects to work on
and you can also approach individuals, businesses, churches, clubs

and other organizations directly for support.
• Promoting the program so that people can learn about FHFH and
become involved as supporters and/or volunteers.
FHFH.org
FHFH began in Maryland in 1997 after founder Rick Wilson encountered
a woman along a Virginia highway looking for help loading a road-killed
deer into her car to feed her children. Inspired to give hunters the
opportunity to help feed the hungry, Wilson formed a program that
would raise money to pay the butchering bills for hunters that donate
deer.
More than 10 years later, FHFH has grown to include 130 local
coordinators in 25 different states. Annual meat donation totals have
topped 429,800 pounds—enough to provide meat for more than 1.72
million meals—and are expected to increase even further in the coming
years.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources ensures a balance between
wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all.

The Mineral Mizer Buck Bag Wet It, Hang It & Forget It
Mineral Mizer Buck Bag
Source Outdoor Group
Gainesville, GA --(Ammoland.com)- You’ve seen big deer on your
property and you even have trail camera pictures as proof. But, just
because they’ve made an appearance on your land doesn’t mean they’ll
stay.
Big bucks have a tendency to roam, especially during the rut. But, you
can keep bruisers on your property with the help of the Mineral Mizer
Bag from 3D Buck Bag.
The Mineral Mizer Bag produces a continuous fresh drip of nourishing
minerals to the surface of the ground with the help of moisture in the air
and an occasional rain. Deer find this mineral lick so tempting that they
will continue to return for more.
Mineral lasts longer in the bag than with conventional pour-and-stir
methods by producing a controlled drip that constantly refreshes the
ground lick from above. The Mineral Mizer bag will save you money and
trips replenishing the lick by keeping the area free of human scent
longer. The porous and UV-resistant geotextile bag is easily refillable and

can stand up to the elements without showing signs of wear or corrosion.
The Mineral Mizer Bag works over any soil and is hog-proof so it can’t be
rooted or rolled away like traditional mineral blocks.
Although the Mineral Mizer Bag works with any dry granular mineral,
MAX-I-MIZER Mineral will help deer reach their full potential. MAX-I-
MIZER Mineral, a scientific blend of digestible phosphorus, potassium,
calcium and essential minerals, provides the best results.
This combination of minerals is not only extremely attractive to deer, but
it gives fawns a better-than-average chance of developing into healthy
full-bodied adults.
Stop pouring money on the ground. Get the long-lasting results you want
with the Mineral Mizer Bag and MAX-I-MIZER Mineral from 3D Buck
Bag.

Should The Second Amendment Be Repealed?
Shooters Committee on Political Education
Lackawanna, New York --(Ammoland.com)- Front Page columnist
Budd Schroeder will debate well known political blog webmaster, Joseph
Illuzzi on the subject, “Should the Second Amendment be repealed?” Mr.
Illuzzi’s, blog is PoliticsNY.Net and he his well known for his insight on
elections and political controversial issues.
He believes that civilians should not own firearms.
The program is sponsored by the Judges & Police Conference where Mr.
Schroeder is First Vice-President. He is also Chairman of the Board of
S.C.O.P.E. Inc. (Shooter’s Committee On Political Education) and a
member of the Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association.
Schroeder believes that the Constitution is correct and that firearms is
almost a synonym for freedom. The differences in opinion between the
two participants may stem from Mr. Illuzzi’s position that guns kill and
he is against killing.
Mr. Schroeder has always taken the position that more lives are saved by
guns. A gun is nothing more than a tool and murders are caused by
people who are criminals. He has often said that the problems of violence
and murders are not because there are “too many guns on the street,” but
rather, too many criminals on the streets.
The debate is designed to shed light without generating heat and to
present the pros and cons of gun control. The issue has a long history of
having a base in religion, constitutional law, and social issues. It is
expected that these issues will be addressed during the debate.
Supreme Court Justice Frank Caruso will be the moderator for this
program. The Judges & Police Conference dinners usually restricted to
members and guests. For this event, those interested in attending can
make reservations without being a member. The deadline for
reservations is October 4.

New York --(Ammoland.com)- 2nd Amendment supporter, For the
first time that I can remember we have our 2nd Amendment destiny in
our hands, we have one of us running for Governor; the most important
office in New York State.
Think about that for a moment Governor of New York State and we can
make it happen. No let me rephrase that we must make it happen. We
must put complacency, defeatism and partisanship behind us.
We must redouble our efforts to insure that our candidate is successful
and becomes the first pro 2nd Amendment Governor in the modern
history of New York State.
This is the year we must put the Political Party of our parents, our

EMA Roni Pistol – Carbine Fiscally Responsible & Economical
EMA Tactical Introduces The RONI Pistol To Carbine Conversion Kit
EMA Tactical
Tullytown, PA --(Ammoland.com)- Designed for the Special Forces
operator, The RONI has found favor with SWAT, Motorcycle, School
Resource Officers and Security Details.
Using the RONI, only one weapon is required for both close quarters and
mid range engagements.
No more duplicating weapons, ammunition and magazines. The operator

is carrying less weight. In utilizing one weapon system, logistics are
streamlined, saving time and money by not having to stock replacement
parts, magazines, ammunition and gun-smithing for two weapon
systems.
Now, one weapon serves multiple applications. Because the RONI uses
pistol caliber and not rifle caliber ammunition, there is much less chance
of penetration thru walls causing collateral damage. The RONI converts
your sidearm from a tertiary weapon into a primary weapon. The RONI
is priced much less than a SMG. Training with one weapon system saves
time and money and more importantly, allows the operator to develop
the singular neuro-muscular coordination needed in high stress
situations.
ACCURACY:
• RONI Pistol Carbine Conversion allows you to realize the accuracy
inherent in the pistol. Targets can be engaged at 50 yards and
beyond.
• The RONI shoulder stock design provides the stability to
significantly improve accuracy and shooting distance. User
accuracy is also increased because the sight line and rail height are
above the barrel. The weight and design of the RONI significantly
reduces recoil and eliminates muzzle jump contributing to
increased accuracy.
TRANSFORMATION:
• A pistol can be installed in the RONI in 5 seconds. No pistol
disassembly or gunsmithing is required for installation in the
RONI.
• Repeatable zero is maintained when reinserting the pistol into the
RONI. The RONI holds the pistol at three points, around the
trigger guard, at the tang of the back strap, and at the under barrel
rail mount.
• Slide operation is controlled by a cocking handle friction fitted to
the slide serrations. • RONI’s enlarged cocking handle design
makes cocking easier for any size operator and allows quicker
clearing of jams.
• Jams are cleared exactly the same way as when shooting the pistol
by itself. All necessary parts are accessible.
DESIGN FEATURES:
• Polymer body with a reinforced aluminum spine provides the
strength, rigidity & durability needed while reducing carrying
weight for the operator.
• Ergonomic design is a comfortable and user friendly. Featuring an
adjustable cheek rest, collapsible butt stock and folding grip.
• Ambidextrous design of the front and rear sling mounts, charging
handle and side rails allow for comfortable use by both left and
right handed operators.
• Muzzle shroud includes an integral glass breaker.
BUTT STOCK FEATURES:
• RONI’s butt stock with 5 position length of pull adjustment
provides a comfortable fit with or without body armor.
• RONI’s adjustable cheek rest is removable, providing a perfect
sight picture when using low profile sights.
• RONI’s butt stock features a secure extra magazine mount
positioned where it reduces reloading time but doesn’t interfere
with shooting.
• RONI can be operated with the butt stock in the closed position.
RAIL FEATURES:
• RONI’s 9.25” one piece upper aluminum rail is long enough to
accommodate a number of different sights, including a red dot +
night vision or red dot + flip up sights.
• RONI’s two 2.5” aluminum side rails allow the attachment of other
devices including flashlights, lasers, etc.
• RONI’s 2 1/8” lower polymer rail provides mounting for forward a
grip.
• RONI’s top and side rails are CNC manufactured from aviation
grade aluminum providing a solid platform for repeatable zero
mounts.
SAFETY FEATURES:
• RONI includes a safety shroud to protect the trigger for pistols
without a conventional safety devise.
• RONI has a forward finger guard to protect the forefinger from the
barrel shroud.
VERSATILITY:
• The RONI can be used with the forward grip in a vertical or
horizontal position.
• The RONI design allows the use of different model pistols from the
same manufacturer in the same RONI body. RONI’s design allows
for accurate single handed shooting from either hand.
• RONI’s unique design enables the user to “accurately point and
shoot” because the barrel is significantly lower than the sight

picture. RONI’s totally balanced design eliminates weapon recoil,
improving accuracy and reducing target reacquisition time.
Increased accuracy reduces training time.
• RONI’s imposing, futuristic, stylized design provides a much more
deterring profile than a pistol alone.
DIMENSIONS:
• RONI G1 weight 3.22 lbs Overall length 18.5” (stock closed) 21.75”
(stock extended) Height 7.5” (forward grip in vertical position)
Width 3”.
• RONI with a Glock 17 at 4.62 lbs is almost 30% lighter than the
H&K MP5/10 SMG at 6.23 lbs. • RONI is much more concealable
because it doesn’t have the MP5 forward banana clip and because
of its size.
OPTIONS:
• Three color options: Black, Green and Desert Tan.
• Optional hinged brass catcher with magnetic release provides easy
access to the ejection port. Velcro bag closure quickly empties the
spent cases.
• Optional secure magnetic vehicle mount allows for quick removal
from the vehicle. • RONI accepts sound suppressors up to 1.375”
diameter.
• In the USA, All NFA Rules Apply

vehicle.
2 Wisconsin Carry members, in consideration of their legal rights
politely declined to provide ID and were handcuffed, detained, and
issued citations for obstruction.
Wisconsin Case-Law clearly states that refusing to give your name is not
grounds for obstruction.
“No law allows officers to arrest for obstruction on a person’s
refusal to give his or her name. Mere silence is insufficient to
constitute obstruction.” Henes v. Morrissey,194 Wis. 2d 339,

Wisconsin Carry has previously filed suit and won a judgment against
the Racine Police Department on January 8th 2010 for unlawfully
arresting one of our members, Frank Hannon-Rock on obstruction

Ruffed Grouse Society Joins Others in Celebrating NHF Day
Ruffed Grouse Society
Coraopolis, Pa – -(Ammoland.com)- The Ruffed Grouse Society
(RGS), is proud to join the nation’s dedicated and conservation-minded
hunters and fishermen as they prepare to celebrate the 38th anniversary
of “National Hunting and Fishing Day” on Saturday, September 25.
“What began as an idea in a small Pennsylvania gun shop a
few hours south of our headquarters here in Coraopolis, has
become one of the most significant events on the American
calendar. The Ruffed Grouse Society’s Board, staff and
volunteers are proud to support National Hunting and
Fishing Day and are pleased with recent studies that show
that the vast majority of Americans support our sport-
hunting tradition. RGS and its dedicated volunteers have a
host of events planned for this fall aimed at exposing women
and youth to that tradition,” said RGS President and CEO
Mike Zagata.
“Working with its many volunteers and members across the
country, the Ruffed Grouse Society continues to provide
hunting opportunities for grouse, woodcock and other game
species, as well as providing opportunities for those who
simply enjoy watching and photographing the hundreds of
non-game species that also benefit from the habitat grouse
and woodcock need to survive,” Zagata continued.
Zagata referred to the12,500 forested acres RGS is managing in PA for
CONSOL Energy, the 2,300 acres its managing in Somerset County, PA
and the over 500,000 acres it has impacted on public lands as examples
where RGS’ work has benefitted all species, both hunted and non-
hunted, that require young forests for survival. In order to add to that
acreage, RGS presently has five timber harvesting machines in operation
around the country.
He then pointed to the new partnership agreement with the Minnesota
Department of Natural Resources in which RGS will contribute 30-
percent towards the salary of the newly established ruffed grouse
coordinator position. RGS is seeking to establish similar positions in
other states.
Established in 1961, the Ruffed Grouse Society is the one international
wildlife conservation organization dedicated to promoting conditions
suitable for ruffed grouse, American woodcock and related wildlife to
sustain our sport hunting tradition and outdoor heritage.
Recognized by Charity Navigator as a four-star not-for-profit
organization, information on the RGS, its mission, management projects
and membership can be found on the web at:

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
PHOENIX — Deputy Director Kenneth E. Melson of the Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) today announced the
formation of seven new Project Gunrunner firearms trafficking groups
during a news conference in which he and Dennis K. Burke, United
States Attorney, District of Arizona, announced the results of ATF’s Gun
Runner Impact Team (GRIT) initiative, a nearly 100-day deployment of
ATF resources to the Phoenix Field Division to disrupt illegal firearms
trafficking by Mexican drug trafficking organizations.
As a result of the 2010 emergency supplemental appropriation for border
security, ATF received $37.5 million for Project Gunrunner, ATF’s
comprehensive firearms trafficking strategy to disrupt the illegal flow of
firearms into Mexico. With this funding, ATF will establish and place
firearms trafficking groups along traditional and newly-discovered
firearms trafficking routes and hubs in Atlanta; Dallas; Brownsville,
Texas; Las Vegas; Miami; Oklahoma City; and Sierra Vista, Ariz.
“Lives are being lost to violent crime every day on both sides
of the U.S. and Mexico border,” said Melson. “Through
Project Gunrunner and its GRIT initiative, ATF is shutting
down the supply routes of firearms traffickers along the
border and further inland.”
The GRIT initiative brought more than 80 experienced ATF personnel
from around the country to Arizona and New Mexico. GRIT special
agents initiated 174 firearms trafficking-related criminal investigations
and seized approximately 1,300 illegally-trafficked firearms and 71,000
rounds of ammunition, along with drugs and currency. ATF’s industry
operations investigators conducted more than 800 federal firearms
licensee compliance inspections.
“We are fighting on a crucial front here today to reduce
violence in our own communities, and to disrupt and
dismantle the southbound supply of weapons to the cartels,”
said Burke. “We will not be a gun locker for the cartels, who
have made murder and mayhem their modus operandi. We
will not tolerate violent criminals and others who illegally
possess, purchase or sell firearms.”
Burke announced that 96 defendants have been arrested, charged,
convicted or sentenced since June 2010 on gun-related charges. The
majority of defendants include violent felons, drug traffickers who use
weapons, and those trafficking firearms to Mexico. Cases involved more
than 370 guns — many of them AK-47 style rifles and other “weapons of
choice” of drug cartels — and hundreds of thousands of rounds of
ammunition smuggled into or destined for Mexico. Some of the guns
seized in the investigation, including a .50 caliber weapon, were
recovered at crime scenes in Mexico.
Recent examples of firearms prosecutions in the District of
Arizona:
• U.S. v. Arizmendiz et al.
• In July and August, two leaders of a firearms trafficking conspiracy
that supplied at least 112 firearms — mostly AK-47 style — to the
Sinaloa Cartel, were sentenced. Alejandroi Medrano, 23, and
Hernan Ramos, 22, both of Mesa, Ariz., were sentenced to 46 and
50 months in prison, respectively, for leading a conspiracy
involving 10 defendants who straw purchased firearms from gun
dealers in Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz., in order to supply them to a
member of the Sinaloa Cartel known as “Rambo.”
• U.S. v. Gaeda et al.
• On June 3, following an ATF investigation involving more than
250,000 rounds of ammunition, ATF agents arrested Emmanuel
Casquez, Elias Vasquez, and Charice Gaeda for unlawfully
exporting ammunition to Mexico. Agents had learned the three
were purchasing vast quantities of ammunition and searched a
vehicle headed for the border port at Nogales and recovered 9,500
rounds of ammunition; a search of a residence ensued and an
additional 27,000 rounds of ammunition were recovered.
• U.S. v. Ibarra et al.
• In July, a 20-count indictment announced charging 10 straw
purchasers, recruited by then 17-year-old Francisco Ibarra, to buy
at least 25 firearms. ATF believes the firearms were trafficked into
Mexico.

Obama Reveals Anti-Gun UN Intent & Sends Freedom Hating
Mayor As Rep
Buckeye Firearms Foundation
Ohio --(Ammoland.com)- The appointment of anti-gun rights former
Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels as an alternate representative to the United
Nations has removed any doubt about the Obama administration’s
intentions regarding global gun control initiatives, the Citizens
Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.
Nickels, a founding member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns and the
author of Seattle’s failed attempt to override Washington’s state firearms
preemption statute, was sworn in Wednesday to “help represent the
United States in the UN assembly,” according to the Seattle Times.
“Putting an extremist gun banner in any position to represent
this country at the United Nations amounts to renting a
billboard for advertising against the Second Amendment,”
said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “While he was
Seattle’s mayor, Greg Nickels supported every anti-gun
scheme put forth by Washington CeaseFire, the Northwest’s
most active gun prohibition lobby.
“Nickels is a gun ban proponent,” he continued, “so his
appointment as an alternate to the UN is a clear signal of
Barack Obama’s intention to rubber stamp the UN’s global
gun ban agenda. We had to sue Nickels while he was still
Seattle’s mayor to overturn his illegal city parks gun ban.
Now he gets to push his anti-gun philosophy on a world scale.
It hardly seems a coincidence that Nickels has been
appointed by the Obama administration at a time when the
UN is considering treaties and initiatives that pose a serious
threat to the Second Amendment.”
Nickels was turned out of office in 2009, which was something of a feat
in a liberal enclave like Seattle, Gottlieb recalled. His defeat in the
primary demonstrated the degree of alienation voters felt from a
politician who once epitomized the Seattle liberal establishment.
“By naming Greg Nickels as an alternate representative at the
UN,” Gottlieb stated, “President Obama has essentially told
America’s 85 million gun owners that their firearm civil
rights are in jeopardy. Nickels cannot be counted on to
defend the Second Amendment because he would like to see
it erased from the Constitution.”

FirearmsTruth.com
Michigan --(Ammoland.com)- Owning a piece of history is something
special.
Owning a piece of history that is actually a machine-gun requires a lot of
special paperwork and hassle.
The alternative is to get a historic item that doesn’t actually fire. While
that might seem like half the fun is missing, think of half the fun you get
for having a fantastic display item – one that is generally legal to own
and still looks quite impressive.
International Military Antiques (IMA) is one of the premier sellers of
such historical items, as well as other unique oddities and collectibles.
We talked to owners Christian and Alexander Cranmer about their
business, how they got started and what the future might hold for
collectors. www.ima-usa.cm
International Military Antiques
FirearmsTruth: How did your company get started in the business of
selling display machine guns?
Christian Cranmer: IMA started in 1981 as the U.S. retail selling arm
of our British wholesale company, Fire-Power International Ltd which
was founded in 1967. FPI purchased military surplus from third world
governments and sold to European Dealers initially mostly Germany.
Most of the materials, at this early stage, were rifles and handguns with
some militaria (bayonets, swords and accouterments), but a few years
later Machine Guns were added to the menu principally because the
selling governments wanted to include them in their sale offers. Initially,
IMA dealt only in the Militaria side, not adding the Firearm parts until
1990. U.S. Federal Law prevented the importation of receivers (to use an
auto analogy; the “engine block” of the MG) so we broke the weapons
into parts for importation leaving the “engine block” in back at FPI in
England. Supply was initially strong but sales of these spare parts for
existing weapons soon were satisfied so another avenue needed to be
found to move this material.
This led to the development of the “Dummy Gun,” which is essentially a
look-alike display inert weapon but constructed with mostly original
parts. The original parts are then fitted onto a solid aluminum inert
receiver which makes a fantastic display but is totally inert and harmless.
FirearmsTruth: There have been many parts kits on the market, but
how do you ensure that what you’re selling won’t get your customers in
trouble:
Alexander Cranmer: IMA continually created new models and
submitted them to the BATF Technical Branch for evaluation and
approval. At that time, the head of tech services would issue a letter
confirming that a weapon rebuilt in the way our sample was presented
was “NO LONGER DEEMED A FIREARM” thereby permitting open sale.
We submitted dozens of weapon systems for which we each got a letter
and is still the basis for not only our Display Gun sales, but the majority
of the US Dummy Gun Market.
FirearmsTruth: To be clear, can you describe exactly what is a display
machine gun?
Alexander Cranmer: A vintage display machine gun is like a Model T
Ford that has a solid engine block, they both look the part but neither
will ever run. The reason a display machine gun looks “the business” is
because it is constructed from original serviceable parts. However, what
makes it a display as opposed to an operational gun is that we replace the
most crucial part, the receiver (or engine block), with a new made
aluminum receiver or an original de-militarized (“demilled”) receiver.
A demilled receiver has been flame cut into multiple pieces (according to
BATF guidelines). We then re-weld this cut receiver into a “lump”. We
call it a lump because there is no internal space for any parts whatsoever,
rendering it completely inert and only useful for display. It should also
be noted that when a receiver is cut in multiple locations some original
steel is lost. This means that when the receivers are “lumped” they are
generally slightly shorter. This additional step makes it virtually
impossible to engineer our lump receivers to working condition. Today,
due to recent import laws, even the barrels have been destroyed or
replaced with an inert rod or tube. In short, it would far be easier to build
a MG from scratch than to attempt to reactivate one of our Display
Machine Guns. Hypothesize for a moment that it was possible to convert
a display machine gun to working condition, well, anyone with the
required skills, tools and materials would be able to make a far more
lethal machine gun in a fraction of the time for a faction of the cost. Lets
go back to the automobile analogy, if you had the skills to build a race
car, would you build a 2010 Ferrari or a 1920 Model T Ford?
FirearmsTruth: What have been some of the most popular and
desirable items?
Alexander Cranmer: German WW2 Machine Guns of the Nazi era are
the best sellers, followed by U.S. and British. In 1996 we offered German
MP 44 Parts Sets for $395 and “Display MP 44s” at $495. Today an MP
44 Display Gun easily brings $3,500. Similarly MP 40 parts sets were
sold by IMA in 1993 at $325, today the going price for an MP 40 parts set
price is well over $ 2,000. We have a saying that there are Nazi
Collectors and there are Collectors of everything else. It is probably a
sense of “dancing with the Devil” as, ironically, some of the biggest Nazi

memorabilia collectors in the world are Jewish. Also, to be fair, the
Germans are and were master engineers. The majority of the German
WWII guns & equipment are simply superior in design and quality than
comparable allied items.
FirearmsTruth: For a long time it wasn’t even legal to own a non-
firing machine gun in many states, but with a few exceptions these are
generally legal today. Do you think the laws controlling the firing guns
make these display weapons so popular?
Alexander Cranmer: Different States and municipalities have
different regulations but, in general, the reason for non-gun or Display
Guns popularity is that legal ownership of a working machine gun,
although possible in some States (not all), requires so many security
measures and responsibilities that an Display Inert Original item without
complications seems highly preferable in comparison. Also, the
availability of registered fully automatic machine guns is very limited
and or owning and transporting a converted semi- auto MG gun drives
up the cost significantly, meaning its far more affordable, easier, and
safer to purchase a display inert machine gun.
FirearmsTruth: Since 2005 there has been a ban on the importation of
parts kits to the United States. Does this mean there is only so much
more stuff out there?
Alexander Cranmer: Actually, there is not a current ban on Machine
Guns Parts Sets, however the 2005 regulation you refer to concerns
barrels. When the Justice Department took over the BATF from Treasury
their lawyers reviewed all existing Laws and decided that the clause in
the 1968 Gun Control Act denying importation for “short” Revolver
Barrels for Saturday Night Specials could also be interpreted to include
Machine Gun barrels. It is not what the Law says, or is intended to say,
but it is the current interpretation of the present Justice Department and
Administration. There are currently moves to have this struck down in
court, we are told, but from IMA’s point of view we have no problem
constructing a Display Machine Gun using a demilitarized or deactivated
barrels in an inert display item.
Additionally, the Government is using various other Laws to impose
import bans on Chinese and ex Soviet Weapons and even American
Returned Goods that was introduced in the 1950s to prevent handguns
made by Smith & Wesson and Colt for example, that had been supplied
to U.S. Allies at no cost (Lend/Lease Program) being re-imported to
compete with those manufacturers in the post war domestic market. It is
now 65 years since WWII ended and this Law prevents one importing a
WWI Springfield bolt Action Rifle made in 1903, over 100 years old, a
rifle possibly carried by our Grand Fathers or even Great Grand Fathers.
This appears to be utter madness and is a slap in the face of every
Veteran who has ever served his country. This particular rifle even
predates the Model T Ford!
FirearmsTruth: Will demand eventually tap out the supply?
For IMA, and most WWII collectors, the end of an era is in sight. Even
the Third World is now almost empty of the desirable WW1 and WW2
materials which have become so popular in the last 20 years probably
because of films like Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. Today
the Government offerings, such as they are, consist of weapons made in
the 1960s/1970s and 1980s, which have little romantic association. The
vast majority of military surplus now is automatically destroyed,
regardless of value, in accordance with various United Nations
directives. The bright side is that this means that every vintage military
antique in anyone’s collection goes up in value every day.
