Amity Innovation Incubator is an excellent place for students studying in Amity to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. We started our own venture in Incubator by submitting our business plans and we have been getting full support in terms of Mentorship, Guidance, Infrastructure Support and Business Development. The contacts and networking events were very helpful in getting us in touch with the people who could help us or with other business owners we could share our experiences with. The business advice we got on a regular basis helped us focus on the important tasks in front of us, and gave us invaluable feedback on our progress and our goals. But even more important than these was the support we got from the Amity Innovation Incubators management, who were always there to say a good word when we needed encouragement, and did everything in their power to help us on our way.

Our batch started in 2008 at Amity University. We were not much aware about the corporate world. We gained insights into the actual market from our seniors and teachers. As we progressed through the days, we got curious about such market forces and started browsing the net although there was still much to be uncovered.

Fascinated by our idea of personalized learning, Mr Divya Prakash, a sales and customer relations expert at Adobe, handling the clients at the Delhi office, also joined the team during 3rd year. In the month of March, the company Eduvative Technologies came into being. The word eduvative is an amalgamation of education and innovation with the aim of developing indigenous education solutions for educational institutions. The company adopted the motto of making its solutions available, adoptable and affordable (the 3A policy of Eduvative).

The team also delivered two amazing industry projects and our University acknowledged both as the best projects.

Dear friends, my success story at Amity is similar to that of the flower. The achiever in me has been created by every single member of the Amity family. And prominent among them is the contribution from my program leader, Mr. Praveen Kumar, for believing in me more than my own self and standing beside me at the time of every need and each and every faculty of Amity for having imparted their knowledge and experience to me in the best possible ways. Today, I am in the right words, a compilation of the knowledge, experience, hard work and love that Amity has in its surroundings and I promise to represent the same in the future with honour and dignity.

And to all those juniors who are striving hard to perform well at Amity, I have just one small message.

Whenever you face obstacles, whenever you feel that you are surrounded by troubles with situations going beyond control just remember:

Crossing the Atlantic Ocean for the first time on 20th January, 2012, leaving my beloved country behind for the unknown, I had no idea what to expect from my four months in the United States. Looking back, I can safely say my semester in D.C. has exceeded my wildest expectations. Never have I ever learned, seen, laughed and grown so much in such a short period of time. It truly gave me a different perspective on things and allowed me to see the world in a broader sense of theres more to the world. In a short time, I have learned a lot about US foreign policy and

was fortunate to meet government bureaucrats, journalists and research scholars who enlightened me about the varied progress throughout. I found that my academic course called US 21st Century Foreign Policy was very informative having a unique blend of history, foreign policy and strategy. One of the most breathtaking experiences that I have ever had was to attend and speak at the United Nations General Assembly during the worlds largest Model UN conference NMUN held from 2nd to 7th April. My strategy is alienated into five categories that consist of academic development, professional development, civic engagement, leadership and personal growth.

I personally came down here looking to garner the most knowledge in the world of International Politics and Foreign Policy which would help me groom as an individual and adapt a tenacity in handling and talking to new people of different ethnicities and public officials, as well as coping with the stressful schedule of a work week combined with academic seminars.

I was able to amaze my boss with my hard work and dedication. Civically, I was able to increase my understanding of the misfortunes of American veterans, as I was a part of the civic engagement project for veterans. I have been a part of the lobbying group on Capitol Hill, trying to advocate a 2 state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Finally, my personal growth is where I feel I have made the most strides and without a doubt achieved my goal of being able to take on the real world with the stresses of class work and multiple activities. Being able to handle the long workweek schedule along with a night class, homework, civic engagement and providing for myself, I know I can make it in the real world. The little things that I didn't really consider to begin with, but made an impact on me while I was here is what really makes me know how far I've come while returning on 10thMay, 2012.

A Message for Students by Ericsson

I am delighted to have Aastha, Ankit, Inderjot, Parvartika, Ritika and Sahil Third Year students from Amity University, Computer Science & Engineering Department working as Interns for Ericsson Global Internal Sub Unit Project.

Albeit in the nascent stage of learning Computer Science nuances, the manner the students have tried to plan, structure, innovate and implement our project on service delivery tracker tool after whetting the present day technologies and research into tools available shows up their synch with the new technologies in vogue and zeal for imbibing newer technologies.

The way these students have taken up the challenge to work on the project independently speaks volumes of their positive attitude.

Commitment, enthusiasm, resourcefulness and collaborative approach they have displayed while working on this project is indicative of the supportive environment of the Institution they are budding from and I am sanguine if they work like this they would make into excellent Computer Science engineers.

I wish them all the best.

The Industrial revolution had created industry hubs, and re-oriented human population, whereas IT revolution has converted those hubs into a global village, in which information services can be delivered through a single window, anywhere, anytime, in a format as desired by the customer. However, quality of such services depends upon the degree of interoperability among heterogeneous ICT systems spread across the globe for seamless exchange of information not only for information delivery, but also for efficient disasters management. Interoperability Frameworks of the countries focus on technical, organizational and semantic interoperability for this purpose. In the era of the Internet, problem of information overload has made semantic interoperability most complex, requiring intensive research to arrive at quick and simplified solutions.

Internationally, initiatives have been already started to build Semantic Interoperability Frameworks (SIF), whose scope /purpose is to arrive at agreed approach for building capability of the organizations (Government, Private, Business, other sectors) to:

    a. discover information requirements for quality services delivery

    b. explicitly describe the meaning of data to be shared multilaterally with other organizations

    c. process received information in a manner consistent with its intended purpose

Recruitments: CSE & IT, Batch 2008-12

The scope of SIF further includes guiding principlesfor addressing issues associated with:

    a. Data accessibility, authentication, authorization, security, transparency, accountability and privacy that constrain semantic interoperability.

    b. Building of metadata and data standards for mapping schemas in databases, multiple ontologies for business conceptualization of data, taxonomy and lexicon etc.

    c. Interoperability Governance processes like mechanisms for formulation of polices, technical standards, best practices, enforcement and compliance and conflicts resolution etc.

Present day technology tools available for this purpose need to be advanced to build repositories and set multilateral contextual relationship between them. The tools should be capable of triggering alerts for conflicts during inter/intra organizations data exchange. Further, appropriate H/W and S/W tools need to be built around the semantic Interoperability Framework to encourage concept of Open data management, in line with open technologies to avoid monopoly of organizations on common data, technology dependency, and vendor lock-in and cost overruns.

Star performer of MAE department was Mr. Manit Moolchandani (5MAE1) who bagged 5 gold medals & 1 bronze Medal in swimming.

MAE Department is full of talent in games and sports. Our students made a major contribution towards annexing of Inter Institutional Sports Championship Trophy (SANGATHAN 2011) by ASET with a convincing margin and all time medal tally.

Our overall contribution towards ASETs Medal tally was over 25%. This figure would have been much higher, but for very few girls forming part of our department. Let us hope that the number of girls goes up in coming academic year. It will not only improve our performance in sports but will also improve the discipline of boys.

  • Book review (Kane and Abel-Jeffery Archer)

Wladek Abel Rosnovski and William Kane were both born on the same day in 1906, but on completely different ends of the earth and side of the tracks. While William was born to a wealthy Boston family, Wladek was found in the woods near a castle in Poland, where he was raised by a poor family already saddled with nine mouths to feed. The story chronicles their lives growing up in an era of war, where William used to deal with the loss of his father in the Titanic and Wladek losses the only family he knows in World War 1. He became a prisoner of the Russians, but eventually escaped to Turkey where he was rescued and soon sent to America to start a new life. While William continued to grow in wealth, Abel worked his way up from being a simple waiter at the Plaza in New York City, to eventually being in charge of a hotel chain. The two men eventually met when Abel needed backing for his failing business and needed the help of William's bank. Unfortunately, things didnt go as planned and Abel soon blamed William for the loss of his mentor and friend, Leroy. This personal vendetta went on for years between the two men, who did all they can to bring each other down financially. But fate can play a cruel role, as it led these enemies to do good things for each other without even knowing about it.

This type of book is good for mature readers, readers who are into suspense, drama, intrigue and romance. I especially liked the attention and detail paid to each character as we are taken into their lives. By the end of this story, you feel drawn to Abel or Kane, wanting each man to snap out of their stubbornness to see what is so obvious. Their lives are enriching and heart-breaking.

I recommend this book because you will be unable to put it down. If you are looking for a book that talks about life in the early 1900s, to see how ruthless and cutthroat the business world is, and especially to see the impact of friendship and family, then this is the story for you.
