MISSION “Bhoruka Charitable Trust is dedicated to socio-economic transformation

of rural & remote areas of India, especially the weaker and socially underprivileged groups, through physical, social, cultural and economic development of rural people, group and institutions.”

i. About Organization (b. Background)

Early 60s PD Ji donated for refurbishment of Village Well and several other initiatives and thought

to formalize the pace of development. Formation of BCT on May 23, 1962. During 70s

PD Ji & family visited Bhorugram and committed towards development of BhorugramSince early 80s

BCT is deeply committed towards holistic rural development in targeted areas.

Ongoing NORTH Health

Awareness cum Increased Utilization of Government’sHealth Services for Urban Slum Dwellers through Health of the Urban Poor Program for Jaipur

Aims at creating suggestive model for NUHM, Since 2009 initiative is covering 6 wards (46 urban slums)

of Jaipur, Annually the initiative reaches out 1.3 lac individuals

in the targeted slums, Project being supported by US AID and guided by PFI.

Maternal Newborn Child Health Nutrition (MNCHN) initiative for 101 villages of Rajgarh and Sujangarh, Churu

Around one lac individuals reached , focus on mother& child health and nutrition,

Across all the 101 target villages ANMs were trainedand facilities provided to 64 Anganwadi Centres,

30 new toilets constructed for beneficiaries havingno such facilities,

43 Godbharaai programs held for target mothers, 105 SHG members identified, 600 School children trained on hygiene issues, Project being supported by Save the Children.

Modern and Specialty Medical Services through 30 bedChogmal Bhoruka Hospital at Bhorugram, Churu

Annually around 2500 cases get successfully treated through CB hospital, figures of treated cases for the year 2012-13 is 2358.

The hospital caters to entire Rajgarh block as well asclosely located villages of other blocks of Churu District.

Is one of the best health service linked premises of district Churu where regular Cataract surgeries under Blindness Control Program takes place (being organized by BCT through regular held Cataract Camps).

Eye care initiatives primarily includes regular Cataract Surgeries being supported by State Blindness Control Program.

Under State’s Blindness Control Program BCT conducts around 6000 cataract surgeries annually,

We are present across 5 districts of Rajasthan forconducting cataract surgeries through Eye Camps,

During 2012-13 around 100 camps held and the OPD figures are 13783 , 5295 patients operated.

Eye care program also includes initiatives focusing children/ students through School Eye Screening Program and Low Vision Program supported by agencies like Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan.

Under School Eye Screening Program 18673 children screened, 1320 free spectacles distributed during 2012-13 (Churu & Dungarpur).

Under Low Vision Program 510 children screened, 210spectacles and 50 low vision devices distributed, and 18 surgeries performed during 2012-13. (Hanumangarh, Churu, Ganganagar, Bikaner & Jhunjhunu).

Being supported by NRHM, BCT operates 4 each of Mobile Medical Units and Mobile Medical Vans in 3 districts of Rajasthan, annually reaching out to around 1 lac rural lots.

1675 camps held during the year 2012-13 through 8 vehicles, and the figures for OPD are 96941.

Being funded by Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition- GAIN and in support with IIHMR, BCT is implementingWheat Flour Fortification project for the tribal communities of Salumber and Sarada blocks of Udaipur.

Fortificants being Iron, Folic Acid, Vitamin A & B12, Targeted to reaching our 5 lac individuals in total, and to fortify 30,000 MTs of wheat flour annually (3 year

onwards), engaging 400 small rural millers.

Ongoing SOUTH Health: HIV/ AIDS awareness programs (key programmatic description & figures)

Targeted Intervention (TI) for Female Sex Workers (FSWs): 2996 FSWs covered, 216 women with STI treated.

TI for migrants: 100215 cases reached out, 31230 identified at high risk, 6498 diagnosed/ treated for STI, HIV +ve patients linked to ART (8 per 1000).

TI for Truckers (Warangal): 123675 truckers reached out, 18569 checked-up, 1729 provided proper treatment.

TI Truckers (Nelamangla): With Khushi clinic 116000 truckers benefitted. Foster care program for OVCs: Covering 25 villages with an objective to

provide foster care support to 60 OVCs through 30 Foster care mothers. Humsafar (workplace intervention): Reached out 17396 truckers, 42 STI

infected treated, 6 found HIV positive linked to ART centers. Suraksha (workplace intervention): 11392 truckers reached out, 255 STI

cases treated, 357 tested for HIV , 2 found positive linked to ART centers. Sankalp: 125000 individuals reached, aimed to develop a response system

so that AIDS/ HIV related information collected and patients get treated.

Ongoing SOUTH continued Health: HIV/ AIDS awareness programs (key programmatic description & figures)

Chinnara Loka: For the children of migrants in construction sector. During the year more than 250 children (2-12 years) attended the center. Pulse polio drops administered to below 5 age group.

Safe Life Program funded by JSW (Jindal Group) for improving Child Nutrition Status in Bellary District. Eliminates malnutrition among children of 0-6 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers of Bellary District in a span of 10 years (89 villages to be tapped in year one). Project aims at:

-Community sensitization, -Awareness creation, -Capacity building for pregnant and lactating mothers on health & nutrition, -Educating Anganwadi workers & betterment of AWCs, -Periodical physical examination of malnourished children, -Capacitating different stakeholders, -Working on Community Ownership &Responsible Environment issues etc.

AIDS Rehabilitation Center at Bangalore Improving the survival and quality of life of people living with HIV/ AIDS

through required diagnostic services. BDA has allotted a land to BCT at HAL II Stage, off old Airport. To be functional in next one year.
