(elected officials and community
leaders)
• Working locally, statewide and
nationally
• Telling AMITA Health’s story and
providing your expertise as a
resource to lawmakers
• Making a request for a position on an
issue important to you
Advocacy IS NOT
• Partisan

The engine of this campaign are committed, energetic associates at all levels of our system.
The Goals of the Ambassador Program are to:
• Enhance efforts to engage associates in a sustainable
way
• Improve dialogue between front-line associates, leaders
and public officials
• Gather stories that illustrate how AMITA Health is
fulfilling its mission for internal and external use
• Prepare associates to carry the messages of the
organization to a variety of audiences including elected
officials, community groups and colleagues
• Respond rapidly to false or disparaging narratives
9
Every associate can be a champion. Your real-life experience and expertise
are a resource for policymakers who shape legislation and regulation.

NEXT STEPS

Your First Action as an AMITA Ambassador
42 CFR Part 2
• Part 2 provisions are outdated and are not compatible
with the way health care is delivered currently.
• Access to a patient’s entire medical record, including
addiction records, ensures that providers and
organizations have all the information necessary for
safe, effective, high quality treatment and care
coordination that addresses all of a patient’s health
needs.
• Failure to integrate services and supports can lead to
risks and dangers to individual patients.
• Obtaining multiple consents from a patient is challenging
and creates barriers to whole-person, integrated
approaches to care that have proven to produce the
best outcomes for our patients.
• Part 2 requirements should be aligned fully with the
HIPAA requirements that allow the use and disclosure of
patient information for treatment, payment, and health
care operations.
