10:30 am – 12:00 pm (003) Keynote SpeakerHumor: More Than a Laughing Matter

Jeanne Robertson is a funny speaker and she utilizes her positively funny style to illustrate how a sense of humor can be an integral part of the strategy for success. Her message is that sense of humor is an attitude and an ap-proach toward working with people. She believes that this attitude can be developed and improved and she sug-gests ways to do so. Using original hilarious stories from everyday life, she will show us how to laugh at ourselves and accept the things that cannot be changed about us and the people around us. Six-foot-two Jeanne is a former teacher and is the recipient of every top honor in the speaking profession. You’ll learn why audiences across the nation say, “The meeting ain’t over ‘til the tall lady speaks.”

$ (004) CPAN®/CAPA® Celebration Luncheon Friday’s Laws

Friday’s Laws are eight fundamentals of normal, effective thinking. These laws can help you improve what is good in your life and change what is not so good. Based on work with thousands of patients in well over 50,000 hours in clinical settings, Paul J. Friday examines how normal and not-so-normal people live side-by-side in an increas-ingly difficult world. The true battles in life are not between bosses and employees, or parents and children. Perpetual scrimmages occur in the gray matter between your ears. Friday’s Laws allows participants to understand how to become normal when they’re not and how to stay normal when they are. You may be surprised at how special “normal” actually is. It can allow you to win—in your career, in relationships and in life.

These barriers need to be overcome to ensure that nurses are well positioned to lead change and advance healthcare. As meaningful use criteria evolve, it is essential that nurses be involved as key stakeholders in the implementation of electronic health records (EHRs) and telehealth technologies, especially in leading the planning, design, evaluation and optimization of health information technology.
