• Most of the settlers went to Maine for the lumber industries and that’s where they began building the log cabins
• In the 1800s to the settlers log cabins reflected the hardships of life on the North American frontier.

• All the food that the settlers gather they cook
• They get a pot and
put it in a pot over
a fire .

This log cabin is 140 years old
Cooling and Heating
• To keep cool in the summer settlers would open the windows.
• And for the Winter the would huddle around the chimney
