June 14, 1777 marks the day that the AmericanFlag became the symbol of this great country. It wasin 1916 that President Woodrow Wilson officially gaveAmericans a day to honor it. Here at American House,we carry on this great tradition every year. Please joinus for our All-American celebration this Flag Day withactive duty members of the United States CoastGuard stationed in Charlevoix.
Activities include:• Flag-raising ceremony and reciting of the Pledge
of Allegiance - 11:45 am• An All-American cook-out: hot dogs,
hamburgers, chips and baked beans• Live entertainment• Patriotic festivities and much more!

Life Enrichment DirectorBarb, our Life Enrichment Director, offers activities that enhance the wellness
of our residents’ lives through environmental, intellectual, physical, social,spiritual, vocational, and emotional avenues. As summer approaches theweather will permit us to have activities outside. Some suggestions might be theFarmers Market, Concerts in the Park, Art Exhibitions, Venetian Festival, andboat rides. We aim to please, and your opinion matters to us. So, please makeyour suggestions known to Barb and we will make every effort to add them toour calendar. We encourage all of you to stay active in ways that bringenjoyment to your life. Remember, for outings that require transportation,seating is limited, so don’t forget to sign up early in the office. Just a reminder:when going outside, wear your sunscreen.
During craft class Betty enjoysmaking pinwheel poppies for ourupcoming Flag Day Celebration thatwill be held June 14th.
Hospice of Michigan offers a freewellness clinic the second Tuesdayof each month. They offer a freeblood pressure check. The clinic isopen to the public and is held in ourlibrary at 1:00pm. Check in at theoffice for assistance.
Horse Races
Residents enjoyed racing theirhorses by rolling the dice. They wereoptimistic that their horse would win!
During intermission residentsenjoyed refreshments. Because itwas Cinco de Mayo, the special drinkof the day was Margaritas. It was adouble celebration day and fun washad by all.
Entertainment
Marta’s daughters,Esther, Marga, andSue shared theirtalents with a greatmusical performancein honor of theirmother. Not only didthey perform, butthey also broughtcupcakes and a cakefor all to enjoy.Thanks for letting usshare in your mom’sday.

The CountryStore
Our Country Storeis located in thelibrary. It is openevery Monday from11:00 am -12:00 pm.We have anassortment of itemsfor sale. All items inthe country store are$1.00. Stop and seewhat is available.
University of MichiganGlee Club
Residents and visitors recentlyenjoyed an afternoon performance bythe Glee Club from the University ofMichigan. They wrapped up theirshow with a rousing rendition of Hailto the Victors.
When they finished singing theyjoined the residents and visitors forrefreshments, conversation, andphotos. A good time was had by all.Their travel agenda takes them toFlorida, Washington, D.C., and thenthey return to Michigan. TheUniversity of Michigan Men’s GleeClub, founded in 1859, is one of theoldest collegiate choruses in theUnited States. They are touring theUnited States to celebrate theUniversity’s Bicentennial Anniversary.
Ev enjoys playing bingo duringgame night. She takes delight ininteracting with the other residentsand participating in the fun. For anentertaining evening, come join Evand the other residents.
