Students are encouraged to check out their own copy from the bookroom to keep at home for reference. Mastering the TEKS in United States History Since 1877, Jarrett Publishing Company, 2012. This text will be used as reference in the classroom. Grading Policy: Major Grades = 70% Daily Grades/Quizzes = 30% There will be a minimum of 4 major grades and 9 daily grades for each nine weeks. Each nine weeks average counts as 42.5% of the semester average. The Final Exam counts as 15% of the semester average. Testing Policy Notification for exams will be given at least 4 days prior to the exam. It is the student’s responsibility to study and come prepared on the day of the exam. Students may re-take one exam of their choice per 9 weeks for a grade no higher than a 70. Re-take exams must be requested one week in advance and may only be taken during department tutorial times after school. All re-take exams must be completed before final exams are given at the end of the semester. Tutorials: Help is available to all students after school upon request. The Social Studies department will offer after school tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays in room ?????? from 2:45- 4:45 pm. Materials Needed: 2 spiral notebooks loose leaf notebook paper pens/pencils glue sticks *All students must have supplies by August 30, 2013. Make Up/Late Work:When a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to pick up all make up work.

Students are encouraged to find a buddy in class who can help them catch up on their material. When you have been absent, check for assignments and handouts in the blue assignment container. Get notes and other class information from classmates or your teacher.

All work must be turned in during class the day it is due. Work turned in after the designated time will be late. Late work turned in one day late will not be graded higher than an 80. Late work turned in more than one day late will be graded higher no higher than a 50. Tests, quizzes, and projects will be made up or turned in the day you return. *Note: Students will be given the opportunity to make up work missed due to any absence with the exception of truancy. Truancy is the absence of a student from school without the permission of the

student’s parent or guardian. Students who miss class for an approved school activity are to notify the teacher in advance concerning the possibility of completing any tests or assignments prior to the absence. If an assignment was given before the student’s absence, then work should be turned in on the first day back. If an assignment was scheduled while a student was absent, they have the number of days they were absent to turn in the work.

Behavior Expectations:

Always be…PROMPT: Be in your seat when the bell rings. Wait for teacher dismissal before

leaving class. Class will not be dismissed until supplies are properly stored, the classroom is orderly, and all students are seated appropriately.

PREPARED: Bring supplies to class EVERYDAY. Notebook, pen, pencils, homework, and notes. Take care of personal needs between classes.

POLITE: Raise your hand and wait to be recognized to speak, get up, or leave the room. Respect yourself, other students, and the teacher.

PRODUCTIVE: Follow teacher instructions without comment, first time given. Stay on the assigned task.

Possible Consequences:If expectations are not met:

1. Verbal Warning2. Student-Teacher conference3. Parent phone call4. Referral to Assistant Principal5. Other consequences determined by school and district policy6. Severe disruption of class will result in immediate referral to Assistant

Principal.

Non-Negotiable Rules:1. Students will be on time to class.2. Students will not bring food or drink to class (except bottled water).3. Students will be in dress code.4. Students will wear ID’s properly.5. Students will treat all classmates with respect and dignity.6. Students will not have electronic devices out in class.
