Transfer coursework from the US/Abroad

Any undergraduate student (domestic, permanent resident or international) who completed coursework abroad (with the exception of study abroad with TTU) is required to have coursework evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) www.naces.org. A course by course evaluation is required for any transfer credit to be awarded. The credit will be posted as elective credit and the grades will be posted based on the evaluation report and transcript. To appeal credit for a specific course offered by TTU, the course description must be supplied in English to the International Education Office or the Undergraduate Admissions Office. The department chair of the course’s discipline will review to determine if the course is equivalent. A student who does not submit their transcripts to a NACES organization for evaluation will not receive any credit. Transcripts must be submitted to the Office of International Education for admission purposes. Not submitting the information could be grounds for dismissal from the University. If transfer credit is required, a course description of each class must accompany the transcripts before the student will be admitted to TTU. The Office of International Education DOES NOT evaluate transfer credits for incoming student. The evaluation is completed by the department of your major. Please contact the department to see the status of your transfer evaluation. Tennessee Tech University recommends Educational Perspectives. The easiest way is to apply at

http://www.edperspective.org/online-application/payment-service-request.php. You will need to make two

separate transactions. He will first need to make payment for the report by clicking on “Upgrade Services &

Other Payments” after entering his personal information, and then on the Catalog Match Report option on the

next screen. Once he makes payment, he will need to go back to the same link and click on “Additional Copies

only” this time, and request one copy to your institution. The cost of the Catalog Match is $225 and $20 for

each additional copy.

Immunizations Students must provide proof of two (2) MMRs (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccinations. Note the first dose must have been given on or after the first birthday. Students born prior to 1957, or those with a documented history of physician diagnosed Measles, are exempt from this requirement.

TTU Health Services recommends that all students provide immunization records for:

1. All full-time undergraduate and graduate students must provide proof of 2 MMR's. All students

must fill out Hepatitis B/Meningitis waiver form prior to registering for the initial semester

2. TB skin test- within past 12 months

3. documented history of physician diagnosed Chicken Pox or proof of chicken pox vaccine (2

doses)

4. Students planning to live in the dormitories or residence halls must show proof of the meningitis

vaccine after their 16th birthday.

These immunizations are at the cost of the student, TTU will not pay for these vaccines, and they are quite costly-it is better to have them done before you come to the US. All full-time undergraduate and graduate students must provide proof of 2 MMR's. All students must fill out Hepatitis B/Meningitis waiver form prior to registering for the initial semester. Other optional vaccines which one can submit: Tetanus/Diptheria -within past 10 years for booster; Meningitis Vaccine; Hepatitis B Vaccine- series of 3 injections. State Law will not permit TTU officials from waiving these requirements. They are required and no exceptions can be made. It you believe you have had the immunizations but have no written record, you may take a titer for the MMR and Chicken pox to determine your immunity thus relieve you of receiving the vaccination.

Immigration requirements

All international applicants are required to submit adequate evidence of financial support to cover the cost of attendance for at least one full year of studies at TTU before the Certificate of Acceptance to the university is mailed. Permanent residents are not required to provide this for admissions. Students requesting a SEVIS I-20 or DS2019 are required by Federal law to submit financial verification to be issued the documents. The estimated amount required for issuance of the I-20/DS2019 is $30,000 U.S. dollars. You will take the I-20/DS2019 and apply for your F-1 or J-1 visa in your country. (see the form you can submit to your bank on the next page). Be sure to pay the SEVIS fee prior to your visa appointment; go to http://www.fmjfee.com to pay the SEVIS fee online. Students already in the USA, who have a student visa, must submit copies of your passport, I-20, I-94 and visa . To transfer your I-20 to TTU; to be eligible to transfer from one US institution to another, you must be a full-time student. If you have completed an Associates Degree at another institution you will only need an official transcript sent to Office of International Education. in addition to the financial support documentation. Campus housing

Be sure to reserve a room early if you plan to live on-campus. You can fill out an online application at www.tntech.edu/reslife/ To be on the waiting you need to pay a $100 deposit fee. The University requires students to live in residence hall units until all available spaces have been assigned beginning with freshmen and proceeding through the academic classification of sophomore, junior and senior. Based on current available space, the University residency requirement places an emphasis on students who have not completed four semesters of college coursework post high school graduation.
