4. First aid measures

4.1 Description of first aid measures

General advice : Move out of dangerous area. Get medical attention immediately. Do not leave the victim unattended. Consult a physician. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

If inhaled : Move to fresh air. Call a physician or poison control centre immediately. Keep patient warm and at rest. If unconscious place in recovery position and seek medical advice. Keep respiratory tract clear. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration. In case of shortness of breath, give oxygen.

In case of skin contact : Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use.

In case of eye contact : Hold eyelids apart and flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention. Remove contact lenses.

If swallowed : Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth with water. If conscious, drink plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Obtain medical attention.

4.2 Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms : Signs and symptoms of exposure to this material through breathing, swallowing, and/or passage of the material through the skin may include: stomach or intestinal upset (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) thirst irritation (nose, throat, airways) Cough central nervous system depression (dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, fatigue, nausea, headache, unconsciousness) nervousness effects on blood pressure Abdominal pain chest pain halo vision (blurred vision around bright objects) loss of coordination Difficulty in breathing

Risks : Pulmonary edema may be delayed.

4.3 Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

5. Firefighting measures

5.1 Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media : ABC powder Carbon dioxide (CO2) Dry chemical Water mist

Unsuitable extinguishing media

: Halons

5.2 Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Specific hazards during firefighting

: Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

5.3 Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for firefighters

: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Use personal protective equipment.

Further information : Keep containers and surroundings cool with water spray. Prevent fire extinguishing water from contaminating surface water or the ground water system. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

6. Accidental release measures

6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Personal precautions : Persons not wearing protective equipment should be excluded from area of spill until clean-up has been completed. Ensure adequate ventilation. Pay attention to the spreading of gases especially at ground level (heavier than air) and to the direction of the wind. Evacuate personnel to safe areas.

6.2 Environmental precautions

Environmental precautions : Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

6.3 Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

Methods for cleaning up : Contain spillage, and then collect with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and place in container for disposal according to local / national regulations (see section 13). Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

6.4 Reference to other sections

Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

7. Handling and storage

7.1 Precautions for safe handling

Advice on safe handling : Do not breathe vapours or spray mist. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. For personal protection see section 8. Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms. Avoid exceeding of the given occupational exposure limits (see section 8). When diluting, always add the product to water. Never add water to the product. When neutralising, always add the product to the neutralising agent. Never add neutralising agent to the product. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

: Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

7.2 Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Requirements for storage areas and containers

: Store in original container. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage.

Other data : Stable under recommended storage conditions. Protect from frost.
