elcome to Amdega’s latest

offering of beautiful

summerhouses and gazebos; for the

first time our Chelsea, Hampton,

Manhattan and Portland Collections

all in one book. Also included is our

prestigious Royal Horticultural

Society Special Edition Collection,

created in celebration of the Society’s

longstanding heritage.

Everyone knows that summer is good

for the soul, but why limit precious

time outdoors to only that time of year.

Consider the attractions of a peaceful

and cosy garden room, away from the

house, to enjoy the fiery hues of

autumn, freeze frame a snowy scene

and celebrate in style the first shoots

of spring.

All that is required from you is a little

consideration of what attributes are

most important and the possibilities

then become endless. Is your Amdega

the place to be throughout all of the

seasons, with the benefits of heat and

light? Perhaps under floor heating,

window blinds and floor tiling are also

important for a garden room for all

seasons. Or maybe you just require a

spot from which to derive pleasure in

the warmer months. Whatever your

preference, this Collection has been

devised for you to savour perfect days

and make them your very own.

Western Red Cedar (thuja plicata) is one of

North America's great renewable resources

and has an extensive history of use by the

indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest

Coast, from Oregon to southeast Alaska.

Some northwest coast tribes even referred to

themselves as "people of the red cedar"

because of their extensive dependence on the

tree for basic materials. The cedar wood was

used for making homes and totem poles, and

also crafted into many objects including

masks, utensils, boxes, instruments, canoes, vessels and ceremonial objects. Roots

and bark were used for baskets, ropes, clothing, blankets and rings.

Today cedar is more widely used as linings for clothes chests and closets, often

referred to as cedar closets and cedar chests. The Juniper oil derived from the tree is

distilled from the wood, and the twigs and leaves used in fragrance, given its distinctive

musky smell. The cones can even be used to flavor gin and utilised as a natural

kidney medicine.

High cedar shingled roofs with elegantly cambered

eaves and handcrafted leaded lights are but a few of

the many attributes of Amdega’s celebrated Chelsea

range. The distinctive hues of these two beautiful

Kingswood models stand resplendent in their own

right, amidst Nature’s profusion of colours.

Slow growing and naturally durable, Western Red Cedar has one of the

longest life spans of any wood. It produces long lengths of timber with true,

straight grain and is

free from pitch with a

heart wood that has

a natural decay

resistance. Its low

density gives it an

insulation value far

superior to most other

species. Lightweight,

easy to work with, easy to finish and

possessing outstanding dimensional

stability, Western Red Cedar is a

preferred wood for nearly all purposes

where attractive appearance and

resistance to weather is important.

Western Red Cedar has a very low

shrinkage factor and is superior to all

other coniferous woods in its resistance

to warping, twisting and checking. The

fine-grained, soft brittle pinkish to

brownish-red heartwood is fragrant, very

light and very durable, even in contact

with soil.

Why not take afternoon tea in a truly

traditional English garden setting, or grab

some valuable down time with a book or some

music. The neat, square Wraylands is a

Chelsea favourite as it is versatile and

harmonises beautifully with both classic and

contemporary decors and settings.

When it’s unmistakably autumn the robust and spacious

octagonal Jubilee becomes the ideal spot to paint …

tranquillity becomes yours alone to savour. As the seasons

Cedar is the ultimate green building material. It is legally,

responsibly and sustainably harvested in the publicly

managed forests of British Columbia, Canada and less than

1% of standing timber is harvested on a yearly basis. For

each tree harvested three are replanted to ensure the

forests will exist in perpetuity.

Western Red Cedar has a low impact on the environment

throughout its life cycle. It requires significantly less energy

to produce than manmade alternatives.

Brassware is the discerning choice for the Chelsea

collection. The history of brass uses itself is

interesting. It is documented that towards the end

of the first Millennium BC the use of brass spread

across a wide geographical area from Britain and

Spain in the west to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India

in the east. This seems to have been encouraged

by influences from the Middle-East and eastern

Mediterranean where deliberate production of

brass from metallic copper and zinc ores had

been introduced.

By the first century BC brass was available in sufficient supply

to use as coinage in Phrygia and Bithynia, and after the

Augustan currency reform of 23 BC it was also used again to

make Roman dupondii and sestertii coins. Unfortunately, little

is known about the production of brass during the centuries

immediately after the collapse of the Roman Empire.

Disruption in the trade of tin for bronze from Western Europe

may have contributed to its increasing popularity in the east

and by the 6th-7th centuries AD over 90% of artefacts from

Egypt were made of brass.

If there’s not much outdoor space it does not mean you have

to miss out on owning a beautiful garden room. The Corner

House is designed especially to fit neatly into the nooks of

courtyards and walled gardens … perfect for creating a

secret sanctuary or an intimate dining setting for two.

A little known but valuable attribute of brass is its excellent hygienic properties. It

has been shown that certain pathogens, which can be spread by touch, will die in a

few hours on copper and brass surfaces.

Spend your deckchair days lounging at the Mowbray;

the largest of the summerhouses in the Chelsea

collection. When heating and lighting are also

added, the possibilities of this substantial garden

room become endless ... formal dining, a cricket

pavilion or a spacious TV or games room perhaps.

S U S TA I N A B I L I T Y

The brass industry throughout the

world is well organised and

equipped to recycle products at the

end of their long lives and process

scrap (swarf and offcuts). Making

brass from new copper and zinc

would be uneconomical and

wasteful of raw materials so, since

new brass articles are made from

recycled scrap, brass is

acknowledged as sustainable and in

the UK brass manufacturers use

almost 100% brass scrap.

The cedar used for Amdega’s Chelsea range of summerhouses and gazebos comes predominantly from

Canada. All of Amdega’s timber products meet the requirements set out by the BMA TRADA Chain of

Custody certification which is a timber products traceability system that ensures that certified products

all come from well managed sources.

The style of the open sided Belvedere gazebo, with its distinctive

ogee arches, is evocative of ancient times past. Yours to make a

beautiful place to look out from when taking shade in high summer

or shelter from April showers … and idyllic for creating a

glamourous and bohemian lounging spot.

The chain of timber custody starts in the heart of the forest, where it is essential that

the natural environment and indigenous species are maintained and protected.

Amdega’s suppliers have a proven chain of custody and ensure that every link of the

chain is strong, every step of the way, to enable Amdega to provide beautiful garden

rooms, and that all important peace of mind, to our valued clients.

is an excellent way to increase precious living

space without a lot of time consuming disruption

and bother. The most important thing for you to

consider from the outset is exactly how you would

like to use your garden room. Have you already

assigned the perfect spot for it to be situated? You

should then think about the shape of garden room

that is best suited to your preferred location, and

also its positioning as you will probably want to

catch the sun and enjoy the very best view. The well considered Hampton range

comprises hexagonal, octagonal and rectangular

shaped rooms - something for everyone and

every setting. Will electricity be required for

heat and light for extended usage in the remains

of the day and also continuously throughout the

seasons? Amdega’s Garden Rooms team

possesses a wealth of experience in all things

outdoors and would be more than happy to give

you considered advice every step of the way.

Hampton summerhouses proudly stand up to the

elements, are designed with clean, contemporary

lines and absolute ease of installation in mind and

can be enjoyed throughout the seasons if so desired

… real perennial beauties. The hexagonal Claremont

makes a comfortable garden den; the place where you

go to take time to savour fresh air and beautiful days.

Over 60% of new businesses are now started from home. This striking increase can

be explained by a number of factors, particularly the availability of new technology.

The exponential growth of the internet, in particular, has changed the way

businesses work forever. People can work from pretty much anywhere - even

making telephone calls for pennies via the web. Also consider the possibilities of a

home gym to visit as you please, and being free from the restraints of

expensive memberships.

Chic modernity achieved here. The seeds of

inspiration bloom in a tranquil, contemporary

workspace, far removed from the humdrum of ordinary

office life. Or imagine a home gym … no excuse to stop

working, or working out, as the cloak of

night descends.

An office at the end of the garden path offers many benefits. Garden offices are cost

effective when you consider the alternative of out-of-home office leased premises or

an extension. Perhaps, as an added benefit, the purchase cost is an acceptable

business tax allowance. Compared to a traditional office, garden rooms win again on

cost, time and disruption. It’s a warm, well-lit, natural environment. No bright

fluorescent strips, grey walls and the white-noise of stale offices. No annoying traffic

jams en route or crisp-crunchers at the next desk.

Clean exterior lines and large glazing panels match

Garden rooms take far less time to construct and finish than the same size traditionally

Amdega’s DIY Portland collection

comprises of the construction industry’s

tried and tested material, redwood, in

beautiful timber slats for the roof and in

feathered edge boards for the frame.

Interestingly, the first ever record of the

redwood was written by Fray Juan Crespi

way back in 1769. Its botanical discoverer

was Archibald Menzies, whose collections

are dated 1794. The name "redwood"

comes from the first, Spanish, description

of the huge trees, Palo Colorado, meaning

simply "red trees."

All of the summerhouses and gazebos in the Portland

collection allow you to cost effectively transform

your garden and add another dimension to precious

outdoor living. Make a date with nature and those sunny

days your absolute priority, from the octagonal

Aldbury summerhouse.

In the Age of the Dinosaurs, redwood species were dominant over much of the Northern

Hemisphere, including what is now the Arctic. Redwood bark, which is soft and stringy-

fibrous, varies in colour from red-brown to greyish. On mature trees it grows to 30cm (1 foot)

in thickness. This thick bark protects the tree from fire damage, although repeated hot fires

can burn through the bark. These hollowed-out trees were named "goose pens" because

inventive early settlers chose to keep their poultry in them.

The inside of a redwood tree contains lots of water. This water transports nutrients

from the roots to hundreds of feet up into the tree, where the leaves use those

nutrients to manufacture sugars and starches. The only way to raise water that high

is with a huge pump. How does the redwood tree do it? The answer comes from Don

Garlick, a geology professor retired from Humboldt State University. He states that

evaporation from redwood leaves draws the liquid up through tiny micro-pores

located in cell walls. The water and sap molecules stick together due to surface

tension (that is what makes a drop of water bead up) and as long as the chain is not

broken, a molecule will pull its neighbour along with it. As the tree grows, the water

column extends with it … Mother Nature at her very best.

Cleverly positioned offset doors are a key

characteristic of the Richmond summerhouse design,

allowing for utmost use of the interior floor space.

Imagine the possibilities of owning a garden room. All that is required from you is a

little imagination, along with that DIY confidence, and your Portland garden room

would very soon become an invaluable space where good weather can be fully

enjoyed. For those social summer occasions; where an impromptu barbeque can

quickly take place, or as the focal point for a child’s party at home, away from the

house, instead of hiring an expensive venue. Kids run free and a downpour creates

an adventure as they shelter from a storm. Or, for those tranquil moments when the

gardener takes a break with a cup of tea, satisfied from their green fingered

endeavours. Endless possibilities.

Distinctive and substantial garden room living is so easily achieved

from the Hartforth, an incomparable choice when considerable

space is required, for relaxation, play or work perhaps, during the

pleasant months. Far more than just a place to rest.

Every Portland is handmade at Amdega’s workshops in

Darlington, in the north east of England, in the very same place

where Amdega’s other garden room ranges are made, and by

the very same people. Such superior quality ensures that this

range is the considered choice for those wanting a superior DIY

offering from a reputable, longstanding company with an

unrivalled heritage in garden room design.

(8 Sided Brampton)

Darlington has long enjoyed a reputation for excellence

in industry. Edward Pease, the influential Darlingtonian

Quaker, is the man credited with the innovative idea of

using steam locomotives for the shipment of coals from

south Durham to the Tees mouth. On 27 September

1825 history was made, for as well as carrying coal,

George Stephenson’s Locomotion No 1 also included

600 passengers, thus the world’s first public railway was

born. Railways are not the only industry for which the

town of Darlington is noted. Its engineering skills,

particularly bridge building, have long been important

and famous bridges have been built at Darlington which

span rivers as far away as the Amazon and the Nile.

The idea of growing plants in

environmentally controlled areas has

existed since Roman times and evidence

was found underneath the ash and lava of

the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD when

archaeological excavations of the ancient

city of Pompeii uncovered the remains of

early greenhouses. The Roman emperor

Tiberius ate a cucumber-like vegetable daily

and Roman gardeners used artificial

methods (similar to the greenhouse system)

of growing to have it available for his table

every day of the year.

Amdega’s extensive greenhouse collection has been designed for

the discerning gardener and in homage to the Company’s Victorian

origins, when an enviable reputation for creating the finest

greenhouses and vineries, as well as glass rooms, was well earned.

Painstakingly designed and with countless attributes, the Amdega

greenhouse of today is the place to get back to nature

nurture … and relax.

Greenhouses were built in Italy in the 13th Century to house exotic plants that

explorers brought back from the tropics and were originally called giardini botanici

(botanical gardens). The concept quickly spread to the Netherlands and then

England, along with the plants. Some of these early attempts required enormous

amounts of work to close up at night or to “winterize”. Charles Lucien Bonaparte, a

French botanist, is often credited with building the first practical modern greenhouse

in Leiden, Holland to grow medicinal tropical plants, originally on the estates of the

rich. Then, with the growth of the science of botany, greenhouses also spread to

universities to allow extensive research to take place.

Amdega has provided beautiful glass conservatory and orangery

structures to the aristocracy and high society continuously since

way back in the 1800s and boasts a formidable client list of nobility,

financiers and movers and shakers across the world today. It was

in honour of this unrivalled heritage that our design team went

back to the Company’s roots and created this exciting collection

of greenhouses.

The French called their first greenhouses “orangeries” as

they were used to protect orange trees from freezing in the

winter. In the 15th Century owning an orangery was a

status symbol amongst wealthy Europeans.

Experimentation in greenhouse design continued during

the 17th Century in Europe with better glass and

construction techniques. The greenhouse at the Palace of

Versailles was an example of their size and elaborateness;

more than 500’ long, 42’ wide and 45’ high. In the 19th

Century the largest elaborate greenhouses were built. In England the conservatory at Kew Gardens is a

prime example of the Victorian greenhouse along with Joseph Paxton’s Crystal Palace.

The Company name was originally derived from three crucial values,

ambition, determination and gain, and it is with these longstanding

values in mind that today’s greenhouse collection came to fruition,

with the clear emphasis on attributes and optional features.

Imagine for example the benefits of an irrigation system which could

be set weeks in advance, and how precious plants could be taken

care of whenever you are away. Stress free remote control

gardening … no need to worry whilst sunning yourself on a beach

for instance.

The English garden is a landscape style which emerged in Britain in the early 18th

century, and quickly spread across Europe. Presenting an idealized view of nature, it

could include a lake, rolling lawns, tree groves, classical temple recreations, Gothic

ruins and bridges. By the end of the 18th Century the English garden was being

imitated by the French, and also appeared as far away as St Petersburg in Russia. It

also had a major influence on the form of the public parks and gardens which

appeared around the world at that time. The most influential figure in the later

development of the English landscape garden was Lancelot “Capability” Brown

(1716–1783) who began his career in 1740 and simplified the garden by eliminating

geometric structures, replacing them with lawns and views of isolated groups of

trees and artificial lakes.

Your Amdega is far more than just an average greenhouse … it is a

place for everyone. We have tried to envisage every consideration.

The doors are wide, staging is high to avoid back strain when

standing and it can also be lowered for the wheelchair user (who

can also be provided with a ramp for easy access). Base walls can be

brick or stone instead of cladding to blend with surroundings and

the house if so desired and bench seating is available for that

impromptu cup of tea in the sun.

Larch wood is strong and virtually weatherproof with the ability to endure changes from wet to dry

without warping, splitting or shrinking, hence its inclusion in the RHS collection. When the larch was

introduced to Britain in the 17th century it was planted solely as an ornamental tree. In 1885 the Duke of

Atholl planted eleven Japanese Larches on his Dunkeld estate and two European Larches nearby. Seed

was collected and planted and in 1904 it was noticed that young plants were exceptionally vigorous. The

Hybrid Larch is sometimes known as Dunkeld Larch because of these origins.

Amdega has combined forces with the Royal Horticultural Society to

create this distinguished range. Already stunning gardens and

grounds can not fail to be further enhanced by the addition of a

beautifully designed neat Kilburn, spacious Sherwood or light and

airy Arden.

Deluxe Florentine Bronze hardware features in this range. In history the discovery of

bronze enabled better use of metal objects than previously possible. Initially made of

copper and arsenic, it was only later that tin was used, becoming the only bronze in the

late 3rd millennium BC; as it was easier to cast and, unlike arsenic, the tin was not toxic.

The earliest tin-alloy bronzes date to the late 4th millennium BC in Susa (Iran) and some

ancient sites in Mesopotamia (Iraq). In Europe, the source for tin was Great Britain’s

deposits of ore in Cornwall which were traded as far as Phoenicia in the Mediterranean.

Window coverings have been used for centuries to provide shading from sunlight in

a large variety of materials. The ancient Egyptian pharaohs had blinds made of

reeds and many relics of their history have often been depicted in drawings of

ancient Egyptian tombs.

Choose to make your Kilburn or Sherwood a garden room for spring, autumn and

winter as well as the summer months, with the Four Seasons Comfort Packs that

are unique to this beautiful collection. Imagine adding electrics, under floor

heating, window blinds and luxurious ceramic floor tiles … and creating

S E A S O N S

Porcelain is a ceramic material made by heating

raw materials, generally including clay in the form

of kaolin. Porcelain derives its name from old

Italian “porcellana” (cowrie shell) because of its

resemblance to the shell’s translucent surface.

Porcelain can informally be referred to as "china" in

some English-speaking countries, as China was the

birth place of porcelain making. Our chosen

provider for porcelain floor tiles, Porcelanosa,

based in Villareal in Spain, has become the leading

brand on the Spanish and international market.

In pre-Roman times under floor heating was a rare

and somewhat radical technology in a world that

typically relied on open fireplaces. Under floor

heating was used by the Romans but was invented

by the Koreans in the Bronze Age. Initially the

preserve of the rich, under floor heating became

increasingly commonplace in public buildings and

villas, particularly in the colder regions of the

Roman Empire.

The eastern white-cedar is also called northern white-cedar, arborvitae and swamp-

cedar. The name arborvitae or "tree of life" dates from the 16th century when the

French explorer Jacques Cartier learned from the Indians how to use the tree's

foliage to treat scurvy. Today, we use cedar leaf oil in medicines and perfumes.

Because it is resistant to rot, we use it for shingles and other structures that are

exposed to water or soil. Seedlings, saplings and young trees provide the most food

for deer and small mammals, which feed on both the leaves and the bark.

The gazebo was the

place in ancient Japan

to celebrate the tea

ceremony and to take

time to meditate. The

alluring Arden, with

its stunning cedar

shingle roof, is a

modern day alternative

and symbolises a now

celebrated landmark

of the traditional

English garden.

The RHS was founded in 1804 as the

Horticultural Society of London, and

gained its present name in a Royal

Charter granted in 1861 by Prince Albert

and the Society’s first garden was in

Kensington, from 1818-1822. In 1821 the

Society leased part of the Duke of

Devonshire’s estate at Chiswick to set up

an experimental garden and in 1823 it

employed Joseph Paxton there. From

1827 the Society held fetes at the

Chiswick garden, and from 1833, shows

with competitive classes for flowers and

vegetables which have been a great

success through to the present day.

Amdega’s longstanding and celebrated signature collection.

Luxuriant and sophisticated in design, with beautifully

traditional features, the Chelsea collection is applauded and

coveted by garden lovers and professional horticulturalists

around the world.

Comprising Kingswood, Wraylands, eight and ten sided

Jubilee, Corner House and Mowbray summerhouses and

Belvedere gazebo. All Chelsea models are handcrafted from

western red cedar and/or other specially selected high

quality, sustainable timbers.

The Roof Chelsea roofs are Western Red cedar shingles with

elegantly cambered eaves. Cedar is recognised as one of

the most suitable species of timber for shingles. Although

an extremely durable species in its own right, the shingles

are also Tanatone pressure treated and impregnated with

Tanalith.E wood preserver; a special process that enhances

the durability of the wood and reduces the need for further

treatment. The roof hips and fascia are also made from

cedar shingles. Internally, the roof is left unlined to allow the

shingles to breath and comes braced with preservative

treated redwood batons and rafters.

Choice of Cladding Sides are externally clad with western

red cedar or preservative treated redwood, painted or

stained. Cedar is a naturally rot resistant species which ages

to an attractive silver, grey colour. All cedar used is

premium quality and kiln dried. Redwood is one of the most

widely used species of timber in construction. All redwood

used is kiln dried and preservative treated for extra

durability and rot prevention. Interiors are lined with

exterior quality veneered plywood.

Choice of Windows Original handmade leaded lights made

from individual panes of glass in the traditional way,

although plain glass is also available as an option. All

unleaded glazing is 4mm toughened as standard. Windows

are top hung, although side hung is available as an

alternative.

Choice of Doors Doors are double sets in cedar shiplap or

pressure treated redwood panels, glazed with leaded lights.

4mm toughened plain glass is available as an option.

Flooring Summerhouses have redwood integral tongue and

grooved flooring, preservative treated and fixed in place

upon traditionally constructed joists, all of which are

preservative treated. If a Kingswood, Wraylands or eight

sided Jubilee summerhouse is placed on a turntable, tongue

and groove boards are replaced with sturdy exterior grade

plywood. The Belvedere has a sturdy preservative treated

redwood decked floor.

Choice of Hardware All furniture and fittings – handles,

casement stays etc – are in solid cast brass, chrome or

Florentine Bronze.

Finial A handcrafted decorative timber ball finial adorns all

of the models as standard, apart from the Mowbray.

Bench Seating Available for placing around and outside the

Belvedere gazebo and eight sided Jubilee.

Turntable As mentioned at “Flooring” above, turntables are

exclusively available on the Kingswood, Wraylands and 8

sided Jubilee models to enable enjoyment of garden views

throughout the day.

Weathervanes Weathervanes are an enhancement on all but

the Mowbray. Made from copper, they can add a distinctive

finishing touch in place of the standard ball finial.

A substantial collection of Greenhouse designs, created by

gardeners for gardeners. As endorsed by Susie White,

celebrated gardening designer and author.

Comprising The Den, Nursery, Retreat and Vinery models in

an array of small, medium and large sizes. Extensive widths

and depths are defined as “bays” eg “Den medium 3 bays”,

(visit amdega.co.uk and click on garden rooms to view the

full range of drawings).

The Roof Combining Western Red cedar with a powder

coated low maintenance roof system. The beauty of the

cedar is visible to the interior with the aluminium to the

exterior.

Choice of Cladding or Dwarf Walls Sides are clad in vertical

cedar panels, painted or stained. Cedar is a naturally rot

resistant species and all cedar used is premium quality and

kiln dried. Alternatively, consider a dwarf wall in either brick

or stone instead of cedar cladding.

Guttering In powder coated aluminium in line with the low

maintenance roof.

Windows Top hung as standard, 4mm toughened glass.

Doors Single and lockable. Larger models can have up to

three doors (visit amdega.co.uk and click on garden rooms

for drawing details).

Flooring Flagstones are offered on small models (only when

Amdega is engaged to carry out full build service).

Hardware All furniture and fittings – handles, casement

stays etc – are in solid cast brass.

Electrics pack Comprising waterproof double socket and

consumer box, IP66 rated, for the use of the water irrigation

system (see below) or to plug in a radio or kettle perhaps.

Optional extras

Ridge cresting Decorative aluminium ridge cresting in either

Fleur-de-L’ile or Shark Tooth.

Finials Decorative aluminium ball or spike finials.

Automatic vent opening wax system For automatically

operated roof vents (standard on large models with roof

over 3.5m high). Take the guesswork out of ventilation. The

hinged vent opens using energy from the sun or air; the

hotter it gets the wider it opens. A metal tube contains

mineral wax expands with heat and pushes a piston and

opens the vent. When the temperature drops the wax

shrinks, a stainless steel spring closes the vent and resets

the piston.

Irrigation system Remote control gardening, operated via

the mains or from a water butt and with a 9V battery

controller (watering time 1 minute to 12 hours, up to 4 start

times a day, working pressure 1 to 10 bar, weather resistant,

built in filter). Comes with a mister which produces very fine

drops and enables excellent water distribution.

Staging Made of cedar, 820mm standard height, in lengths

of 1215mm and 603mm and widths of 700mm and 500mm.

Disability pack We also manufacture lower staging

especially designed for the wheelchair user and can also

additionally provide an access ramp if so desired.

Bench Seating Available across the full range, for that break

from your green fingered endeavours.

Cold frames Made of cedar with a 4mm toughened glass lid,

600mm high x 1215mm wide.

At Amdega we do not tear down rainforests to make our

garden rooms or any of our other products. We only use

timber from managed sources to ensure both the

environment and indigenous species are protected. We are

proud to be the first in our market to do so, using a

combination of temperate American hardwoods, Douglas

Fir and architectural grade European engineered timber

specially selected for Amdega, ensuring the best

combination of finish, structural integrity and ethically

sourced timber from renewable and farmed sources.

Engineered timbers offer stability, structural integrity, an

increased product lifespan and excellent performance in

today’s challenging environments. Although more

expensive to purchase, engineered timber products

produce less waste and ensure the efficient use of timber

and are more durable with greater longevity, making them

ideally suited to Amdega’s environmental ethos.

Where ethics meets aesthetics

At Amdega we operate strict recycling policies. For

example wood chippings are recycled and turned into

chipboard. Any broken glass is brought back to life in the

form of road markings. Scrap metal and aluminium are

collected then melted back down and reused. Employees

are encouraged to print as necessary, use both sides and

only then to recycle paper as well as cardboard.

At Amdega we not only have an environmental policy, our

eco-ethos is applied across everything we do. Being green

is not a fad, it makes ethical sense to take care at work as

well as at home and we try to lead by example.

Eco-ethos
