My EVS is finished now. It was a great experience and adventure!

Lets summarize my activities.

I had my own activities and some activities with the other EVS volunteers.

I had different intercultural workshops like different kinds of presentations about France, English and French conversations with children, adults or seniors, Czech lessons with the other volunteers but I also had some individual Czech conversations with some seniors which was very nice for me to learn more.

I helped for the preparation and the organization of some events carried every year by Hodina H such as Volny cas neni nuda a Netradicni zavody (Hurray for housing estate ), Cokoladova Hodina (Chocolate Hour), Region Tanci (Dancing Region) and Den Bez Tobaku (Day without tobacco), Halloween and Christmas.

I also welcomed the seniors from the Senior Klub giving them a hot drink and sometimes I was doing some activities with them like some writing games and I taught them how to do a bracelet with plastic threads.

I also did some activities at school or with schools like the English club in one primary school in Pelhimov where I was once a week, Christmas and Halloween in one primary school in Pacov and with some schools at Hodina H. I also did two school trips with Pacov primary school during which ones I was doing English and French activities. I was going once a week in a Kindergarten where I helped the children to do some activities and I helped the teachers for outside activities.

All these activities were very enriching for me even if some were very difficult because of the language.

By the way, I learned a lot!

I learned to find the way to communicate with Czech people without really speaking Czech and so I realized that everything was possible to do speaking different languages. I learned some new activities or different way to do some activities I already knew and new tools which I can use in my job in France. I also improved a lot my English and now Im able to speak a bit Czech and at least more or less understand and make myself understood.

Im also sure now that the most difficult activity for me is every kind of presentation but now I can really start to work on it.

I also learned that to live with people from different countries with different cultures and work with them is not always easy. And that the most important is the communication especially when something is wrong. And I know now that I have to work on it more than what I thought.

I gained more independence doing things that I was not doing before in my daily life. I realized that I liked a lot cooking for example. I also have a bit more self-confidence in my daily life and in my work. I also realized that it was not easy to live alone and that maybe I was not really ready for it without support. So I learned to ask for help and to say when something was wrong and I found all the support I needed at Hodina H. And so my personal conclusion about it is that without personal rules and will, even with all the support you can have, nothing can change.

I also learned a lot about Czech Republic, its culture and traditions and met a lot of amazing people with who Im still in touch. Well, I was not really happy when I learned that the only way for me to go aboard the first time was to go to Czech Republic -also because I think I even didnt know that this country was existing- but fortunately I accepted the offer because I dont want to leave this country anymore.

To conclude, my long term EVS was my best experience for now despite the personal and work difficulties and I finished it with my head full of new knowledges and motivations!

I would like to thank Morgane my French advisor in mobility- who sent me in Czech Republic and who supported and followed me before, during and after my EVS and Hodina h which supported me during all my EVS and after and which did its best for me to live it as good as it was possible and which taught me a lot of things!
