Additionally, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing. A fireworks display choreographed to the theme from “2001: A Space Odyssey” will unfold with a sound clip from astronaut Neil Armstrong. Rain date for the display is Sunday. Annual reading of the Declaration of Independence performed by historical reenactors portraying Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin. There also will be a presentation of colors by the Continental Color Guard and a performance by the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Fife and Drum Corps. ª Family activities continue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can meet the historical figures in the rotunda and the presidential conference rooms. The show pays tribute to Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president, and to astronauts and their support teams at NASA. The “Battle Hymn of the Republic” will play with a special sequence of blue and gray shells to celebrate the bicentennial of Lincoln’s birth. Additionally, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing. A fireworks display choreographed to the theme from “2001: A Space Odyssey” will unfold with a sound clip from astronaut Neil Armstrong.
