To support the develop- ment of tourism infra- structure for the Na- tional Parks, Nancy Hanna, Chair of Am- Cham's Tourism Com- mittee spearheaded an initiative for a National Parks Master Plan devel- oped by the recognized national park experts Andrew and Beth Coates of Cresolus of Gamboa. Four Amcham compa- nies donated funds for the Master Plan: Cerve- cería Nacional, AES Panama, Pana- mainfo.com and Lead- ership Technologies, Inc. (FranklinCovey). The plan was accepted by Autoridad Nacional del Ambiente (ANAM) Minister Javier Arias, and funding for the ini- tial implementation was provided by ANAM and the Autoridad de Tur- ismo de Panamá (ATP). Today, work has already started for creating a viable tourism infra- structure in Volcán Barú and Soberanía National Parks. On January 19 AmCham together with PanaMan- agement Corporation offered a breakfast to introduce the “Pacific Center for Integrative Medicine”, a new option in therapeutic care in Panama. Integrative medicine takes a holistic approach to health, looking for solutions that do not focus only on ex- ternal treatment of ail- ments but on ways to help the body heal itself.
