Lightweight construction is not a new topic in the appli-cation industries. Nevertheless, multi-material lightweight construction is currently gaining in importance, offering the best opportunities to modern materials. The trend towards even lighter, more efficient vehicles, aeroplanes and facades continues unabated and offers excellent opportunities for growth. At the end of the day, however, only those sectors that succeed in setting up resource and cost-efficient production and material cycles will be competitive.

The aluminium industry holds a good deck of cards in this game. It benefits from the extensive know-how it has built in recent years together with its customers from the appli-cation industries.

Aluminium producers and processors initiated a series of investment programmes and further improved process and recycling technologies. In recent years, buyers in the appli-cation sectors, particularly automotive manufacturers, have invested billions in innovative aluminium vehicle architecture that will serve as a basis for future model series.

In many fields of application, aluminium will continue to play a decisive role – whether on its own or as one of several materials in composites. All in all, there is no doubt it will profit in the race for lightweight construction materials.

Semi-finished products and related technologies

Halls 13 and 14 are dedicated to semi-finished products and related technologies. Here you will find companies which specialise in extrusion, hot and cold rolling and drawing. For years now the semi-finished products halls have been a major attraction at the fair. A large number of extruders and rolling mills from Europe and overseas have already reserved their stands in halls 13 and 14 and the halls are already almost fully booked. Hall 13 specialises in rolling, whereas the focus of hall 14 lies in extrusion. You can easily access halls 13 and 14 via the East entrance (Haupteingang Ost).

The exhibitors will be showcasing innovative products and the latest semi-finished product technologies and services. ALUMINIUM provides suppliers with a platform for presenting their full product portfolio. Because the 27,000 trade visitors expected at ALUMINIUM 2016 come from all the key application industries such as automotive, transport, building and construction, and engineering.

HALLS AT ALUMINIUM 2016 HALLS AT ALUMINIUM 2016

WGM Joint Pavilion

Following its successful and innovative involvement in the last years, a further WGM joint pavilion is planned for 2016. The 270 sqm stand in Hall 14 serves as a joint platform for the following companies: Kastens und Knauer GmbH & Co. International KG, Mastel Aluminium-Halbzeuge GmbH, MECU-Metallhalbzeug GmbH & Co. KG, RMG Metall-fachhandel GmbH, Voß Edelstahlhandel GmbH & Co. KG and Weinmann Aach AG.

The six semi-finished product distributors have bundled their expertise and organisational efforts to present their companies in a transparent form. Each company has its own area on the stand. Additionally, all exhibitors can make use of the generously proportioned lounge and bistro sections of the pavilion. It also opens up opportunities for new ventures such as the publication of the WGM business climate index followed by a discussion round (29 November, 4 p.m.), the economic performance debate (30 November, 2 p.m.) or the “Get-Together – WGM & Friends” session including snacks and live music (30 November, 6 p.m.).

The Holland Aluminium Pavilion in Hall 13 is a special area for exhibitors from the Netherlands and is the largest country pavilion at ALUMINIUM 2016. About 20 companies will exhibit in the Holland Aluminium Pavilion at ALUMINIUM 2016.

Within the Holland Aluminium Pavilion it is possible to book either an individual stand area or a turn-key stand. Central point in the Holland Aluminium Pavilion is the Aluminium Terrace with the Holland Aluminium Information Desk and catering services for all participants.

A turn-key stand in the Holland Aluminium Pavilion includes a full service package covering a complete stand with furniture and lighting, all additional costs like marketing services, catering and general promotion of the Holland Aluminium Pavilion.

Aluminium Brazil and expoalumínio are bringing together the entire productive chain

From June 7 to 9, ALUMINIUM BRAZIL and ExpoAlumínio, International Aluminum Expo, Latin America‘s largest event in this industrial chain, will gather professionals from across the aluminum production chain and from its consumer sectors, such as packaging, civil construction, transportation, machinery and equipment, consumer goods and others. A global event, in 2016, 170 Brazilian and international brands will be visited by 12,000 attendees, including qualified buyers, over the 12,000 sqm of refurbished expo area at São Paulo Expo.

Milton Rego, CEO of Abal, which is holding the event, exemplifies the growing importance of aluminum consumer markets, because of its versatility. He says that „there is a continuing upward trend in aluminum use in the biggest consumer sectors, like transportation, packaging and civil construction. Per capita aluminum consumption in Brazil is still low and this opens up a lot of possibilities.

The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI)

The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) is a standards setting and certification organisation that recognises and fosters the responsible production, sourcing and steward-ship of aluminium. As a member-based, global initiative, ASI is the result of producers, users and stakeholders in the aluminium value chain coming together to build consensus on ‘responsible aluminium’.

ASI is developing an independent third party certification program to ensure sustainability and human rights princi-ples are increasingly embedded in aluminium production, use and recycling. In doing so, we continue to seek en-gagement with commercial entities and stakeholders in the aluminium value chain from across the world.
