The opportunities this market has to offer will be on show in November at ALUMINUM USA in Detroit, the latest event in the global circle of ALUMINIUM fairs. Even the announce- ment of the new event was given an enthusiastic reception by the aluminium industry. Numerous international compa- nies will be there at the launch in autumn. Before that, the industry will be congregating in Shanghai in July. ALUMINIUM CHINA has already established itself as a firm fixture in the calendar of international materials fairs. China remains one of the key international hubs of the aluminium industry. Great events require advanced planning – and at this point I would like to inform you of my own personal plans. This is the last edition of the newsletter to be issued under my supervision. I would like to take this opportunity to say goodbye as the Event Director of ALUMINIUM. As of 1 July I will be moving to the USA where I will be taking responsibility for Reed Exhibitions‘ US industrial trade fairs. One event which I am particularly looking forward to is ALUMINUM USA. So you see, I will not be leaving you entirely and will be maintaining my links to the aluminium and trade fair sectors. May I introduce Olaf Freier (48), the new Event Director of ALUMINIUM. He’s held leadership positions in the exhibition business for 17 years and served as managing director of HINTE Messe und Ausstellungs-GmbH since 2004. It would be great if you could accord my successor the same levels of trust that you have given to me over the last five years. Now all that remains for me to say is thank you. Thank you for five exciting years with ALUMINIUM, for the many stimulating encounters and discussions I have had – and not least for the numerous insights into one of the technically most advanced industry branches. Heading for new shores

The aluminium industry is currently enjoying significant growth in North America. Since 2009 the demand for aluminium in the USA and Canada has risen by almost 40 per cent – representing great prospects for international producers and processors.

The opportunities this market has to offer will be on show in November at ALUMINUM USA in Detroit, the latest event in the global circle of ALUMINIUM fairs. Even the announce-ment of the new event was given an enthusiastic reception by the aluminium industry. Numerous international compa-nies will be there at the launch in autumn.

ALUMINIUM CHINA 20158 – 10 July 2015, Shanghai

Asia’s leading event for the complete aluminium supply chain will highlight aluminium’s role in the technological and environmental revolution across major global industries.

With more and more leading automotive manufactures launching electric and hybrid vehicles and China’s stated national strategy to reduce average passenger vehicle fuel consumption by a third before 2020, ALUMINIUM CHINA 2015 in July will showcase the increasing role played by aluminium in the growing green automotive in-dustry. By reducing vehicle weight without compromising safety, aluminium is increasingly being used in a range of automotive products from engine casings and chasses to wheels, doors and connectors.

Visitors to Asia’s leading event for the complete aluminium supply chain will see aluminium forging, stamping and ex-trusion products along with new disruptive technologies such as the aluminium-air battery (AI-battery). Claiming better energy density along with reduced costs and lower environmental impact compared to conventional batteries such as lead-acid, Ni-MH and Li-ion cells, the AI-battery is already being used by Citroën in its C1 electric car.

“Changing regulations from governments and expec-tations from consumers around the world are putting pressure on motor manufacturers to respond and it is clear that aluminium is set to help shape the future on the green automotive industry,” said Lanny Zhang, Vice PresidentofReedExhibitionsChina, organisersof ALUMINIUM CHINA 2015.

“ALUMINIUM CHINA 2015 provides a timely and unique opportunity to bring together the world’s automotive and aluminium experts to experience the latest technology, products and processes that will help meet the challeng-es ahead.”

The 11th ALUMINIUM CHINA exhibition and conference in Shanghai runs from 8-10 July. Over 17,000 profes-sionals are expected to attend, representing a wide range of industries and buyers from China as well as other Asian and global markets. It will showcase over 550 international exhibitors from 30 countries; representing the entire aluminium production chain, from raw materials, semi-finished and finished products to production and processing machinery and accessories.
