Talk and Tour of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art ALUMNI CONVENED at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) campus on April 22 for a discussion with Fred Goldstein ’82, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary at LACMA, on the implications of recent and proposed capital projects in the Miracle Mile. “Judging Statutes” with Chief Judge Robert Katzmann ’80

THe HonoRABle Robert A. Katzmann ’80, chief judge, united States court of Appeals for the Second circuit, spoke to alumni in new York and Washington, dc in February about his new book, Judging Statutes. Professor Abbe Gluck ’00 moderated the conversation in new York and Professor William Eskridge ’78 did the same in Washington.

YLSA of Washington, DC: The Originalist

FiFTY Alumni And THeiR GueSTS attended the Arena Theater’s production of The Originalist, a new play about Supreme court Justice Antonin Scalia. Following the play, Jonathan Siegel ’89 and Neal Katyal ’95 led an exclusive talkback for the YlS community members in attendance in which they reflected upon the work and its portrayal of Justice Scalia.

Summer Happy Hour

on June 25, 2014, YlS summer associates, admitted students, area alums, and their guests gathered at the chicago Yacht club on the shore of lake michigan, over-looking the extraordi-nary chicago skyline.

Ian Solomon ’02, vice president for global engagement at the university of chicago, gave a fascinating description of his work as u.S. representative at the World Bank.

“Out of the Blue” Recent Alumni Happy Hours

neW THiS YeAR, the office of Alumni Affairs is hosting alumni from the past ten years for infor-mal happy hours across the coun-try. Graduates from los Angeles and Philadelphia have enjoyed net-working and socializing with other recent alumni at the first two “out of the Blue” Happy Hours.

Reception and Conversation at the Hammer Museum

THe YAle lAW ScHool ASSociATion oF SouTHeRn cAliFoRniA visited the Hammer museum on February 3. Alumni gathered for a reception at the Ammo cafe and stayed for a public program at the museum. The program featured Lisa Bloom ’86 and carl douglas, both prominent civil rights attorneys, discussing some of the law and justice issues surrounding the killings of Trayvon martin and michael Brown.
