all the necessary impetus to fuel growth in the country and BVDU College of
Engineering, Pune in particular. BVDU has a distinguished history of achievements
in the field of education and Research. It is always in the forefront for creating a
network with reputed Industry, International Educational Institutes and National

In keeping pace with changing times, BVDU has been expanding horizontally and
vertically. It has been a constant endeavor of BVDU to keep itself abreast with the

Bharati Vidyapeeth(Deemed) University
26th April, 1996 was a moment of crowning glory for Bharati
Vidyapeeth as well as, for Dr. Patangrao Kadam. The day on
which, the government of India on the recommendation of
the University Grants Commission granted the status of
University to a group of 12 institutions of Bharati Vidyapeeth,
located in Pune, in appreciation of their academic excellence
and potential for further growth vide its notification No. E-9-
15/95-U.3 dated 26/4/96 under the section 3 of the University
Grant Commission Act of 1956.
Bharati Vidyapeeth University has got 'A' grade status by Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD),
Government of India. Addedly it has also been reaccredited to grade 'A' by National Assessment and Accreditation
Council (NAAC).
Thus, Bharati Vidyapeeth University is now an amalgam of 29 constituent units. Such a large number of constituent units
transform it into, arguably, the largest multi-disciplinary multi-campus University in the country established under section 3
of UGG act 1956.
The degrees and Diplomas offered by Bharati Vidyapeeth are on par in status and validity with the ones conferred by any
statutory university. This is in keeping with its ‘University Status’ to the Cluster of Institutions within the ambit of Bharati
Vidyapeeth ratified by the Govt. of India on the recommendation of UGC and AICTE. Moreover, its professional education
college such as Engineering College, Medical College, Dental College and others enjoy the ratification of the respective
statutory council like AICTE, Medical Council of India etc. besides they have been accorded due recognition by the State and
Central Government.

Bharati Vidyapeeth, the parent body of Bharati Vidyapeeth University was established on
10th May 1964 by Dr. Patangrao Kadam with the objective of bringing about intellectual
awakening and all round development of the people of our country through education.
The sole objective of the establishment was a yearning to usher in an era of intellectual
awakening and complete development of the country through the medium of
education.
Despite a relatively short time span of 47 years. Bharati Vidayapeeth is counted among
the top most educational institutions in the country. Over the years, it has developed 160

'NanoTechnology - Innovative Materials,
Processes, Products, and Applications'
NANOCON-012, a two day International Conference on “Nano Technology-Innovative Materials,
Processes, Products, and Applications”is being organised by Bharati Vidyapeeth University (BVU) in
association with North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, USA (NCA&T), Tuskegee University,
Alabama, USA(TU) and Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET), Department of
Information Technology, Government of India. The conference is being organised in the sprawling,
picturesque, serene and beautiful BharatiVidyapeeth University campus at Pune-Satara road.
The grand Inaugural Ceremony took place in the C V Raman Hall. It was graced by eminent dignitaries
from India and abroad. It had Dr. Ravi Grover, Member, Atomic Energy Commission, Principal Adviser,
Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India and Director, HBNI as the chief guest and Dr. Barry
Burks, Vice Chancellor, Research and Economic Development, NCAT, USA as Guest of Honor. The Chief
Patron for the conference, Dr. Patangrao Kadam, Hon Chancellor, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed
University and Dr. Shinichi Kikkawa, Vice President, The Ceramic Society of Japan and Vice Dean,
Hokkaido University, Japan chaired the inaugural function. The function had the presence of patrons
of the conference Dr. Shivajirao Kadam, Hon' Vice Chancellor, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University
and Dr. Vishwajeet Kadam, Hon Secretary, Bharati Vidyapeeth. It also had the dignified presence of
Prof. JitendraYakhmi, Director, BARC, Dr. Ajit Kelkar, Chairman, Joint School of Nano Sciences and Nano
Technology, NCA&T, USA, Dr Reshef Tenne,Director, Helen and Martin Kimmel Center for Nanoscale
Science, Member, Israel Academy of Science, Israel and Dr. Dinesh Amalnerkar, Executive Director,
Centre for Materials for ElectronicsTechnology, Pune.
The proceedings of the conference was set in motion with the welcome address by Dr. Anand
Bhalerao, Chairman, NANOCON-012, who welcomed the dignitaries and the audience to the
conference and emphasized the significance and relevance of the conference with a prelude to
NANOCON-010. He mentioned that conference is supported financially by North Carolina, Tuskegee
University USA, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology,
Government of India. He also highlighted the prominent feature of the conferenceand also
emphasized the importance of the association with NCA&T University in term of M.Tech
(Nanotechnology) course. He expressed gratitude to all the national and international dignitaries for
their kind support and cooperation in the making of NANOCON-012.
A total of 250 research papers were received. To maintain optimum
quality, with great efforts, only 140 papers for oral presentations
and 25 papers for poster presentation were selected. The
conference has to its credit few prominent and important features.
The research papers being presented in the conference will be
published in reputed peer reviewed Journals such as Journal and
IEEETransactions of Nanotechnology, International Journal of Nano
Research, USA and Nanotechnology & Nano sciences International
Journal having an impact factor of ICV:4.54.

The DATAQUEST -CMR Top T-School survey
To bring forth the best innovations of the finest
minds in the country, in the most conducive
milieu, the college organises its annual national
level technical event BHARATIYAM, since the last
25 years. It consists of various technical and
cultural events. It is a confluence of numerous
talents and aims to give budding engineers a
glimpse of professional excellence. It provides a
unique and common platform for the intellectual
development of students by promoting the habit
of inquiry, learning, thinking and creativity, thus
encouraging students to portray their talent in
competition with their peers from all parts of the
nation through a series of thought provoking
contests.
It serves as a wide platform for students to exhibit a completely different facet to them. This year around 5500 students from 110
engineering colleges spread across the length and breadth of the nation came together in unison to display a plethora of talents in
the field of academics, dance, music, dramatics et al. In its course of time and presently, this festival is strongly supported by reputed
corporate companies such as TCS, SKF, Tech Mahindra, Zensar, SEED, Freerecharge.in, VLCC, Punjab National Bank etc. Apart from
this, it is also successful in garnering sponsorship, support and relationship across the nation from different ventures in varied field.

The DATAQUEST - CMR Top T-School survey is conducted every year to decide the rankings of
technical colleges in India. The result of the survey conducted for this year is published in the issue of
DATAQUEST (dated 15 Dec. 2012).This is the 7th year of such survey.
BVDUCOE has been ranked among the Top 20 technical schools on the all India basis. Further, it is
ranked among Top 5 technical colleges of West Zone, and also features among top 5 in India for HR
perception (Excluding IITs). This is the 7th consecutive year that BVDUCOE has ranked among top 50
Technical Schools of India
This ranking is based on criterions such as placement, infrastructure, industry interface, academic
environment and HR perception.
The college has bounced from 35th rank in the last year to 19th ranking this year.

A one day workshop was organized on Friday
09/11/2012. M/s Skills-Factory Learning Pvt. Ltd. Pune.
Undertook this training with Mrs. Anupama Jha and
Mrs. Urvashi khelani as expert and coordinator
respectively. The expert covered the topics in befitting
manner.
The expert used her skills to impart subject knowledge
effectively. The morning session covered topics on
Ethics which included Workplace Ethics and Individual
Ethics. The topics were covered in interactive manner to
establish relationship as to how individual ethics leads
to institutional ethics, resulting in overall improvement
of the institutional output.

Mr. M. M. Talathi (Sr. Vice President, Century Enka Ltd. Bhosari, Pune) addressing faculty member on
topic“AWindow to Industry and Operations“ under ISTE Chapter.
Indian Society for Technical Education, Chapter of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University
College of Engineering organized a lecture on Wednesday, 8th February 2012. The lecture
was delivered by Mr. M. M. Talathi, Sr. Vice President, Century Enka Ltd. Bhosari, Pune. The
Felicitation of the guest was done at the hands of Principal Prof. Dr. A. R. Bhalerao.
ISTE Activities
On 19th February 2012 the Birthday of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the
students of Bharati vidyapeeth Deemed University College of Engineering
celebrated the Shiv Jayanti. A group of 50 NSS Volunteers brought Jyot
(Sacred Toran) from Sinhagad Fort to the Shivaji Maharaj statue in the Pune-
Satara road campus.
Chief Guest Prof. Namdeorao Jadhav famous Historian Spoke about the
Engineering used by Shivaji Maharaj for the making of weapons. He also said
that Shivaji Maharaj is a perfect management Guru. The Function had the
presence of Mr. Baba Mama Shinde, President of Bharati Pariwar, Prin. W. G.
Kharche BVJNIOT, Mr. Abhijeet Kadam, Member PMC, Dr. Mangade, Mr. Uday Patil, NSS Co-ordinatorTeaching and NonTeaching staff
were present for the Function. Abhijeet Mane introduced the Chief Guest. AndVeenit Mokashi gave the vote of thanks.

To give a platform for performing art and cultural activities,
Art Circle was formed under which students can perform
and participate in various competition all over India. The
team of Art Circle has won prizes at Bharati Youth Festival in
Bhajan, Folk dance, Group song at Garaware College in
street play and Mime at Unmad IIM Bangalore in street play
and Mime at Singhad Karandak in group singing and in
Harmony atY. C. College, Pune.

The Institution organizes a Blood Donation Camp on the
occasion of Birthdays of Chancellor and Secretary in month
of January this year Total of 1175 bottles of blood were
collected. The Camp was inaugurated by Ramprasad
Bangud, President Raktache Nathe Foundation.

Alumni AssociationThe Alumni Association was established in the year 2003. The Executive Council of alumni association meets quarterly in a year to discuss and decide the futuredevelopment of association. The office bearers of the association are also part of the administration body.
Till date we have organized eight alumni meets, for which the response was very good.Presently 4000 alumni have registered and the number is increasing every year.
The 8th Alumni meet of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University
College of Engineering Pune-43 was organized on 5th Feb. 2012.
Vice Principal Prof. R. W. Jawale was the chairperson & Mr. V. D.
Pharande, alumni of 1993 batch of Production Engineering
Department, General Manager, Carraro India was the chief
guest. Mr. Amol Gangle, alumni of 2000 batch of Chemical
Engineering Department, Dy. Manager, Praj India ltd. & Mr.
Rajesh Vartak, alumni of 1995 batch of Computer Engineering Department Chief technology officer and executive officer, Seed
Infotech Pune, were the guest of honor.The alumni from batch 1987 to 2010 were present for meet.
The Chief guest Mr. V. D. Pharande, , declared to give preference to BVDUCOE students for their Industrial Trainings & Projects. Mr.
Rahul Vartak in his speech said that, the college has given well academic, cultural & business excellence. Dr. Aatkekar, Alumni
Electronics Engineering1988 batch , Shri. Sunil Girme , Shri. Vijay Navale 1998 Production Engineering batch and many Alumni
recollected past memories of their college tenure and said that we are committed for development of the college & society.
The chair person Prof. R.W. Jawale in his speech said that he was very glad to see the progress of the alumni association. Our alumni
are doing excellent research abroad and the college is proud of it.We also appreciate the alumni for guiding the new generation.
Alumni's holding top positions in industries are
felicitated by respective Head of the Departments
and all alumni's are felicitated by Prof. R. W. Jawale by
giving a small memento from Alumni Association.
Prof. Mrs. V. A. Sohoni gave information about new
developments in college.
Annual Alumni E-bulletin was released by chief guest
Mr. V. D. Pharande. Cultural programme was done by
college students. Vote of thanks was proposed by
Mrs. S. N. Shinde. All Heads of Departments, Teaching
and Non-teaching staff, students and alumni were
present.

8th Annual Alumni Meet 2012
The Sixth Alumni meet was organized on 2nd February 2010 at Choki Dhani.
The Cheif guest for meet was Mr. Unmesh Jagtap ,President Unpa
Engineering an alumni of mechanical engineering from partment of batch
1996 batch and Mr.Jitendra Raguvir,famous magian alumni of Production
Engineering Department of the 1998 batch.
Mr. Unmesh Jagtap, guest felt very proud for being the chief guest in his own
college and thanked the college for instilling so kind to him in all-round
development and multi skills. He announced to collaborate with institute for
doing research activities in producing electricity using wind and solar
energy. President Dr.A.R.Bhalearo was very proud to hear about the research activities of alumni aboard and their all-round
performance. He also announced about events and activities of the college i.e international conference,Tech- fest ,collaboration with
Tata-Motors for training more than 5000 workers etc.He welcomed all the suggestions from the alumni and promised to implement
were ever possible.
The Seventh Alumni Meet was organised on 6th Feburary 2011
at BVU, Pune campus. Mr. Narendra Kulkarni, shared his
feelings of student life. He also appealed all to attend the
programs of Shiv Khera- writer of the famous book “How to
win”. He said winners do things which no one wants to do. Few
of the alumni appreciated the administrative staff in Principal's
office and the helping nature of all staff.
One of the alumni requested to form a data base to connect all
the alumni together and help the college progress in future.
One of the alumni Mr.Satish Todmal requested to keep social
outlook in mind and keep one to one interaction with the industry persons.
Mr.Satyen Narke( Consultant) praised the environment of college and gave credit of all his success to college. Mr. Vishnat(CEO IT
company) expressed his attachment with the college. He said Persistence and perseverance are the two qualities that makes a person
overcome all the hurdles. Chief guest Mr.Kishor Vyas shared his experiences and reminded about the inspiring words of teachers and
quoted that”inspiring words are colourful beeds of life”.He praised the college development in all the fields.
Mr.Shekhaar Tilekar said Bharati Vidyapeeth has contributed to the engineering world. He quoted that world is competitive and
success is now a relative term. Therefore don't compare success with each other. President of Alumni Association presented the
progress of college and shared the good news of college being in top 50 colleges in the country for the last few years. He also
mentioned the strengths of college which include research work, Library ,faculty etc. He announced that College is starting M Tech
course in Nanotechnology in collaboration with North Calorina Agricultural and Technical State University(NCAT),U.S.A. under which
student will complete course work here and do the dissertation at NCAT. Vice Principal Prof. R.W.Jawale, Vice President of Association
Dr.J.S. Chotode, All H.O.D.'s & staff were present for function. Cultural function programme was presented by students of Art Circle. The
programme ended with delicious Dinner.

The Fifth Meet was organised on 1st Feb 2009 Sunday at the Harvest club in
Pune.The welcome address was delivered by the Secretary Mr. S. S. Chavan.
He gave the status of Alumni Association.
Mr. Krishnan Iyer, Guest of Honour gave a very emotional speech and said
the credit of his achievements goes to the college. He appreciated the
values and culture of the college. He narrated a story of old Professor and
explained the moral of the story that God made coffee and not cups.
Mr. Atul Goel, Cheif Guest refreshed his memories and said he owes part of his life to this institute. He talked about how to corelate
education and business. He also said that the Institution is not only for education but is also for forming peer association with each
other for future. The chief guest contributed to the Institution by announcing that he will train 10 students of the Institution every year
through his company. He also requested the association to conduct next meet in his resort Chouki-dhani. A cultural programme was
performed by Art Circle.Vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. S. D. Lembhe (Treasurer).The meet ended with a delicious dinner.

Energy group had taken the initiative to organize this meet .
The group of 40 alumni of the same batch were present for the meet. They donated the Rs. 1 lakh for the
laboratory equipments. They also committed to help in arranging industrial visits, Guest Lectures and
placement .
Dr. Anand Bhalerao gave the information of development of the institute and thanks for all the alumni
for their respect towards the college for donation the equipments. Prof. Roda, Head of the Electrical
Department(1992)and the Prof. Bagal were also the present on the occasion.
All alumni visited all the departments and the programme concluded at the electrical department with
the felicitation of the all the staff of the Electrical Engineering by the alumni.
