March Meeting Recap...
April Meeting... The speaker will be Sheila Gray from Mutual Ground. She will be speaking about the services they provide.
Rev. Dan Haas was our guest speaker. He discussed that the Chaplains consist of many denominations and must be able to volunteer a good amount of time as well as serve at their own church. Calls are normally divvied up based on geography and now with the use of cell phone apps, they can better serve the Officers. Their main duties include providing spiritual and emotional support for Officers in need. Rev. Haas explained the importance of listening, which allows a person to relieve stress. Also, by providing encouragement and affirmation, relationships are built that can make challenging situations less of a burden. Officer can request special services from the Chaplains, including weddings, baptisms and funerals. The Chaplains roles is to serve the APD and their service to the community is facilitated through their own congregations. Chaplains are normally recruited from within and word of mouth.
Gun Locks...
We now have T-shirts in our new blue color and they will be available for purchase at our next meeting.
