It contains the equivalent of not less than 90.0 percent and not more than 110.0 percent of the labeled amounts of Aluminum Hydroxide and Magnesium, Hydroxide Pharmacology Aluminum hydroxide slowly reacts with the gastric hydrochloric acid to form soluble aluminium chloride of which is absorbed. On the other hand, Magnesium hydroxide reacts rapidly to form magnesium chloride and water. The presence of food which decreases the gastric emptying rate prolongs the availability of the aluminium hydroxide but shortens that of magnesium hydroxide. 30 to 50 % of the magnesium ions are absorbed in the small intestine. Moreover, about .1 to .5 mg of the aluminium ions are reported to be absorbed which is then eliminated in the urine. The aluminium and magnesium ions remaining in the gastrointestinal tract are excreted in the feces. Indication

Description of the product

Saltam® Oral Suspension is a mixture containing Aluminum Hydroxide [Al(OH)3] and Magnesium Hydroxide [Mg(OH)2]. It contains the equivalent of not less than 90.0 percent and not more than 110.0 percent of the labeled amounts of Aluminum Hydroxide and Magnesium, Hydroxide

Pharmacology

Aluminum hydroxide slowly reacts with the gastric hydrochloric acid to form soluble aluminium chloride of which is absorbed.

Indication

Saltam® Oral Suspesion is given to reduce the constipating effects. The aluminium - magnesium combination is given to patients suffering from hyperacidity.
