Features
The Altuglas® Diffuse family of resins provides
LED luminaire OEMs and optics suppliers with:
• Excellent light diffusion
• Superior light transmission • Choice of smooth or textured surface on
extruded lenses • Outstanding UV resistance & weatherability
• Excellent surface gloss & scratch resistance
• Easy to extrude, injection mold, thermoform & cut • Recyclable
In a side-by-side comparison utilizing an off-the-shelf LED 2’ x 2’ troffer, Altuglas® Diffuse (C) provides the optimal combination of light diffusion and light transmission compared to the original lens material (D); typical frosted acrylic material (B); and clear acrylic material (A).
At Altuglas International, our team is using our extensive experience in lighting and acrylic materials, along
with our innovative techniques in resin compounding to bring new acrylic solutions to all applications of LED
lighting lenses – from optically clear to highly diffuse.
Our recent focus in light diffusion has led to the development of a new family of diffusion resins, called
Altuglas® Diffuse. Altuglas® Diffuse products offer that unique set of properties that LED Lighting
designers have always wanted – better diffusion of intense LED point light sources without surrendering significant light transmission.
For more than 60 years, Altuglas® acrylic resins have played a vital role in the development of durable, weatherable lenses for commercial, industrial, residential and roadway lighting. Altuglas acrylics are a material of choice for leading light manufacturers, resin processors, molders, specifiers and designers for incandescent, fluorescent, high intensity discharge (HID) and now light emitting diode (LED) technologies.
