Villa Madonna Retreat House Closure and Open House

The Villa Madonna Retreat House (the Villa) located in Little Bras d'Or, NS

has served the Diocese of Antigonish and its parishioners and community

members since 1972. The Villa offered a place of reflection and renewal for

those who stayed there. The Villa will be closing as of June 13, 2014.

On June 20, 2014, there will be an Open House from 7-9 pm (with a closing service around 8 pm) for those

who would like to share memories from renewal experiences at the Villa. For the past year, the Diocese has

been seeking alternatives to the Villa. After considering numerous options, we believe that the Camp

Bretondean, an ecumenical residential camp supported by the Anglican churches of Cape Breton and admin-

istered by the Camp Bretondean Corporation. Everyone is welcomed to attend the Open House on Friday.

2ND ANNUAL Ham and Salad Supper: Saturday, June 21, 5:30—7:30 pm at Our Lady of Fatima Parish

Hall. Ham, Salad, roll and dessert. Tickets are $10.00 each, EAT-IN OR TAKE-OUT. All proceeds will go di-

I want to thank all priests and parishioners who participated in the Service of Repentance last Sun-

day in Port Hawkesbury. Special thanks to those in Port Hawkesbury who took leadership in mak-

Baptismal Preparation

Parents who wish to have their child baptized are re-quired to attend a Baptismal Preparation Session, held the first Sunday of each month, the next session is July 6, 7:30pm, downstairs in the basement of the church. This is in preparation for Baptisms the following Sunday.

BRITISH COLUMBIA BOYS CHOIR: Members of the choir are from the greater Vancouver area and range in age from 7

WORKSHOP ON TEAM MINISTRY On Tuesday, June 17, 10am-4pm, interested parishioners are invited to a work-

shop at St. Joseph Parish Church Hall, Port Hawkesbury, on the topic: “Collaborative Team Ministry”. It is another

attempt to familiarize as many as possible about a creative way of ministering in parishes where there are less

parishioners, fewer priests, dwindling resources, but, as well as, with some formed laity and deacons willing to

join in a Team approach with priests to “pastor” a pastoral unit.
