Cyber Security - It’s a Crime!
Cyber Security: It’s a Crime! We Don’t Use Long & Strong PasswordsWe Use the Same Password at Multiple PlacesWe Don’t Use Multi-Factor AuthenticationWe Don’t Use Https Everywhere We Can on the ‘NetWe Use Free WiFi at Public Places Without a VPNWe Don’t Encrypt Our Sensitive DocumentsWe Don’t Keep Our Security Software UpdatedWe Don’t Audit Our IT Risk & Monitor ConstantlyWe Don’t Use Devices We Can Wipe Remotely InstantlyWe Still Have Paper in Our Practice That Isn’t SecuredWe’re Sitting Ducks, But We Refuse to Innovate!
Batten Down the Hatches!
Use Long & Strong Passwords
Multi-FactorAuthentication
(aka 2-Step)
Use HTTPS: Everywhere(that you can…)
Use a VPN (Virtual Private Network)
Don’t Use ‘Free Wi-Fi”I'd avoid any unsecured wi-fi at airports, convention centers, or other busy public areas.
This summer I had one of my email accounts jacked and my entire contact list flooded with spam shortly after connecting to an unsecured network at a convention center.
I had assumed that is was just one of the vendors being sloppy, but someone had put out an active phishing hotspot.
Lucky it was only my email, and my phone alerted me to the issue within a few minutes of it happening so I could regain control.
