under the guidance of a dedicated Board and staff, we will continue to be devoted to en-hancing the mind, body and spirit of all individuals touched by the thorncroft experience.
“A Field oF dreAms” 7
in 2001 two lovely ladies, who were long time supporters of thorncroft, bequeathed a gener-ous gift to the farm which is now known as the sara and toby Wolfberg scholarship fund for therapeutic horseback riding. the “sisters” wanted to ensure that every rider would receive the unique therapy offered by thorncroft regardless of their fi nancial circumstances. today it is our pleasure to pass this gift on to syrus who began riding at thorncroft in september of 2015, when he was 9 years old. he arrived hand and hand with his grandmother who he lives with. he was a very shy, introverted young boy who struggled with a lack of self-confi dence, anxiety and severe depression. syrus had a diffi cult childhood, and thank-fully the barn became his happy place... where he could leave his problems behind. his passion and love for animals was a needed outlet for his lack of socialization. since he started riding at the farm, syrus has become confi dent in his riding skills as well as his ability to groom and tack his horse. he has recently moved into a semi private lesson (which would not have been possible when he fi rst arrived) and has been honing his social skills with new friends.
syrus now walks independently into the barn with a new sense of confi -dence and a positive outlook on life. coming to the barn is the highlight of his week. With gratitude we thank the Wolfberg sisters and with our own special joy we pass the scholarship on to syrus.

The 32nd AnnuAl ThorncroFT VicTory GAllop
Live Auction
(1)The Speed of nASCAr This experience is for the individual looking to take driving to a whole new level. Spend the weekend of Oct. 7th and 8th 2017 on the track at Pocono Raceway. Start your day with your instructor going over the basics of the 600 horse power stock car you will be racing over the course of the weekend. Session 1 includes a 60 mile introduction to NASCAR racing learning how the car handles at speeds up to 160 miles per hour. Your instructor will push you harder the more comfortable you get each lap! Session 2 later that day takes what you learned earlier and allows you to apply it to a 30 mile qualifier. Take the wheel and compete in this qualifier with other stock cars and your instructor as your personal coach next to you. The follow-ing day the intensity builds for session 3. This 75 mile session focuses on advance racing, passing and drafting. Run wheel to wheel, nose to tail with your instructor all leading up to the main event of the day, your final 10 lap session will leave you breathless as you maneuver passes at top speeds only seen in real NASCAR racing! This experience includes accommodations at an Elk Mountain Chalet in the Poconos. This experience will have a minimum reserve bid that must be met.
(2) Air Combat Fighter Pilot experienceStep into the cockpit and take the controls of a Marchetti fighter plane! Everything in this experience is real except for the bullets. When you arrive, climb into your flight suite and parachute and get ready for an experience of a lifetime. While on land your instructor, a former fighter jet pilot, will take you through the aircraft and the maneuvers you will need to perform during 3 live dog fights later that day. This is NOT a flight simulator, after take off your instructor will hand off controls to the Marchetti and the cat and mouse thrill of a dog fight will begin. Engage your target, lock on and take the shot all on your own while preforming real air com-bat maneuvers necessary to avoid becoming the target yourself! This experience includes round trip Airfare for 2 to Los Angeles and a 3 night stay at the Fairmont Santa Monica, Daily breakfast for 2, private chauffeured luxury SUV 4 hour tour of some of La’s most iconic sights and $150 gift certificate towards lunch or dinner at The Ivy a local hangout for actors, producers, and writers. This experience will have a minimum reserve bid that must be met.
live auction items may include an experience from the land, air or sea!
