Dear Alliance Coach family,

Well goodbye 2016 and hello 2017. We wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year.

We are very excited about this upcoming year for Alliance Coach. We will be starting our construction in Wildwood. We are changing our service hours to better serve our guests. We will go into a swing shift; which means there will be techs available during lunch, and between 5 and 6. Just in case a problem should arise that needs attention. We listened and we are making the change.

RV secured storage in now opened across the street behind the building to house over 150 coaches with power. It is a first class facility to house your prized possession.

Did you know? We have one of the largest selections of new and pre-owned coaches in the southeast. Come by and look around while enjoying the Florida sunshine.

We are so excited to add the Winnebago gas line to our lineup in Lake Park. When visiting Lake Park you cannot go anywhere else and get a better home family feeling when shopping or servicing your RV. The Plemmons family is there to welcome you as soon as you enter the front door.

Our show team again led by Tracy Williford will circle the states of Georgia and Florida bringing a selection of new and pre-owned units to you and they will always be backed by our fine name.

Alliance Coach has been selected as a top 50 dealer for the 3rd consecutive year. This is a huge honor since there are over 4,000 dealers in the United States and Canada. Always remember at Alliance Coach you are not just a number but a member of our family. There is always someone who you can talk to answer your RV related question.

Again we wish you a very happy and healthy New Year.

Truly Yours

Alan Shapiro

TECH TIP by Ed Cowan ‘Tis the season for colder temperatures and furnaces being used. I receive many calls regarding the a/c fan running, while the furnace is on, in coaches that use the Dometic Single Zone Thermostat shown here:

There is an easy fix.

1. Push the on/off mode button until the fan light is illuminated. 2. Using the + and – keys push them until “AU” shows up in the display

area. 3. Then push the on/off mode button again until the furnace light is

illuminated. 4. Set your desired temperature with the + and - buttons.

Performing this fix will ensure the a/c fan will not run while the furnace is on.

Why this is: Dometic says having the a/c fan running with the furnace “provides circulation of air throughout the coach and assists to create an even temperature in the motorhome”. Most customers do not like the additional noise created in the coach by the a/c fan running and thus you have the option of turning it off or keeping it running. The choice is yours.

Why RV? People love RVing because i t l e t s them ge t away—

to s tep away from the hass les o f dai ly l i f e and creat e las t ing memor ies wi th loved ones.

WILDWOOD NEWS Salvation Army Food Bank Donations

The Salvation Army assists homeless people of all ages as well as individuals and families who may be down on their luck and in need of some extra assistance. The food pantry that serves Lake and Sumter county has told us that the need for food is especially great right now. You can donate canned and dried food items by placing them in the Salvation Army food bin in our lobby.

Congratulations to this new officer in the Sumter County Florida Sheriff’s Department, our very own Robert Shapiro!

Many of you know our good friend Dick Murphy who has been an avid RVer for a long time. Dick is now retired from RVing and will be missed. Alliance Coach of Wildwood sent him a plaque with his name and FMCA number as a reminder of his traveling years and the many friends he made along the way.

MONTHLY CHARITY RAFFLE: 50-50 FUNDRAISER FOR AUTISM

Funds raised in January from the 50-50 raffle will be donated to Autism Speaks. Statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that the number of American children with autism has increased ten-fold in the last 40 years. One out of every 68 children is affected, with boys nearly 5 times more likely to have symptoms than girls.

Autism spectrum disorders are related to brain development and vary in type and degree. Disorders are characterized by social-interaction difficulties, communication challenges and a tendency to engage in repetitive behavior. These basic symptoms are often accompanied by other conditions such as sleep disorders and anxiety.

Most children diagnosed with autism benefit from therapy to help them improve their social and motor skills and go on to live happy, normal lives. Your donation can help.

Best Wishes for Happy Holidays and a Great New Year from Alan & Judy

WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA

Saturday, December 17, was the 11th Wreath Laying Ceremony at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. The mission of the Wreaths Across America is three-fold: to remember the fallen, honor those that serve and their families, and teach our children the value of freedom. Each year, wreaths are placed on gravesites in veterans’ cemeteries across the country. Wreaths Across America is a non-profit

group, using donations to purchase the wreaths and volunteers to place them. You can learn more at wreathacrossamerica.org.

VISIT FLORIDA’S STATE PARKS: ALAFIA RIVER STATE PARK Alafia River State Park (Southwest Region) 14326 S CR 39, Lithia, Florida 33547 Alafia River State Park has lots to offer no matter what outdoor activities you enjoy. Alafia River's spacious paved campsites are outfitted with 20/30/50 amp electric service, water hook-up, a picnic table and a fire ring. Additional amenities include two picnic pavilions and a newly built amphitheater. Campground restrooms and three campsites and are ADA accessible. (Maximum RV length = 55 ft.)

Alafia River State Park offers access to the south prong of the Alafia River and numerous lakes for fishing. Bass, bluegill and catfish are among the fish that you may catch. LEARNING THE LANGUAGE: RV GLOSSARY

If you are new to RVing it doesn’t take long to figure out that you have a new language to learn. So for the newbies (you know who you are), here are a few basic terms to help get you going.

Pusher: slang for rear-engine motorhomes. Term most often used to refer to diesel engine motorhomes as in “diesel pusher.”

Rig: what many RVers call their units.

Basement: the storage area below the main area of your motorhome that is accessed from outside (usually in Class A or Class C motorhomes).

Pull-Through: a campsite you can pull into and get out of without ever having to back up the RV.

Cockpit: the front of a motorized RV where the driver( pilot) and co-pilot (navigator) sit.

PET SCRAPBOOK Most RVers travel with pets—mainly dogs. The Wildwood facility has a spacious dog park near the campground to give them a place to run and play. The lobby is pet-friendly so you can keep your pets with you

RVING TIPS FOR BEGINNERS Get to your destination as early as possible. You don’t want to arrive late in the day or even after dark and try to set up camp—it can be a lot of work even if you have a routine all worked out. While you’re getting to know your rig and working through all of the details that go into getting set up correctly, you can save yourself a lot of stress by allowing plenty of time to get settled each night.

If you travel with a pet—make sure you have pictures in case you become separated from your pet. Recent photos could be used to print a poster in a pinch, and can be used to identify the animal as yours.

PLACES TO GO, THINGS TO DO

Jan. 7, 14, 21, 28: Winter Music Series at the Lakeridge Winery and Vineyards, Clermont. Each January, Lakeridge Winery and Vineyards is the hot spot for live music, winery tours and wine tastings. The winery is located west of downtown Orlando, on a 127-acre estate in gently rolling countryside. 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Free admission. 800-768-WINE. www.lakeridgewinery.com

Jan. 7-8: Dade's Battle Re-enactment & Trade Fair, Bushnell. Often called a massacre, the battle that sparked the Second Seminole War definitively gave first blood to the Seminoles. This annual re-enactment takes history buffs back in time to the Indian ambush of U.S. Major Francis Langhorne Dade and his troops in 1835, a battle that only three of his 107 men survived. Florida may be a vacation destination for many now, but for a weekend, the Dade Battlefield Society provides a glimpse into the hard road that led us here with its Civil War-era encampment and demonstrations. From 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 7-8 (with battles at 2 p.m.). Dade Battlefield Historic State Park, 7200 County Road 603, Bushnell. $5 adults, free ages 6 and younger. 352-793-4781. dadebattlefield.com

Jan. 14-15: Florida Manatee Festival, Crystal River. In honor of its namesake, the endangered manatee, the festival gives visitors the opportunity to view the gentle creature in its own environment. Boat tours are offered for a small charge into Kings Bay, which the manatee calls home. Festival also includes a Fine Art show featuring everything from watercolor artwork and photography to sculptures, stained glass and handmade jewelry. Live entertainment will be provided continuously. Downtown on Citrus Ave. www.gomanateefest.com
