    Ayat Al Kursi (2:255)

In the name of Allah, most Gracious, Most Merciful.Allah! There is no God but He, the Living, the Self-subsisting. Neither slumber

nor sleep can seize Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens andwhatever is in the earth. Who will intercede with Him except by His Leave? He knows what is in front of them and what is behind them, While theyencompass nothing of His Knowledge, except what He wills. His Throne

extends over the heavens and the earth, And He is never weary ofpreserving them. And He is the Sublime, the Supreme.

The Main Theme(s)1. The main theme of this passage, which we know

as the verse of the Throne, is the oneness ofAllah, or Tawhid

    2. Allah is a being unlike any other beings because

he knows everything and can do everything3. Also He has neither parents nor children4. Similarly Surah Ikhlas also states that He cannot

be compared to anyone or anything

    5. His throne signifies His absolute power over all aswell as His absolute knowledge of everything.

The Presentation of the Theme This passage marks out the differences

between Allah and His Creation It teaches us that Allah has no human

weakness and limitations, such as sleep, limited knowledge and tiredness

Allah never tires or sleeps, and His

knowledge covers everything Even mans knowledge is only that which

Allah grants Others Quranic verses similarly declare that

He know the most concealed secrets

Moreover, His throne which means kingdomis over all the heavens and the earth

He doesnt require any help or rest whichproves His limitless power

Thus this passage teaches the lowly position

    of humans before their Creator.

    Surah Al Anaam 6: 101 to 103

    101. To Him is due the primal origin of the heavensand the earth: how can He have a son when He has no

consort?102. He created all things, and He has full knowledge ofall things. That is Allah, your Lord! There is no god butHe, the Creator of all things: then worship Him: and He

has power to dispose of all affairs.103. No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all

visions: He is above all comprehension, yet is

    acquainted with all things.

The Main Theme(s)1. The main theme of this passage is the unlimited

power of Allah that proves Tauheed2. It describes how He created all things including

the heavens and the earth from scratch

    3. The Arabic word Badee means He who createswithout any raw materials to start with4. It strongly refutes any concept of him being a

parent or husband when it is He who cannoteven be seen by anyone

    5. Another important aspect of the theme is factthe His knowledge is absolute.6. These arguments establish Him as the sole being

    to be worshipped.

The Presentation of the Theme The doctrine of Tawhid is based on Allah's

power of creating His domain out of nothing

and by His single command, Be (36:82) Exercise of this power explains Allah'simmense power and unlimited knowledge

Demands us to demonstrate our belief bybowing down before Him in all submissionand worship like the other creations: And

the stars and the trees both bow inadoration (Surah 55).

This further negates any form of shirk(associating partners with Allah), speciallyassociating any relatives with Him.

Surah Ikhlas more emphatically and explicitlyrefutes the corrupted idea of assumingdescendants of Allah

Such degree of uniqueness of Allah rendersour imagination just helpless to comprehendHis entity.

    38. But if people arearrogant, in the presenceof your Lord are those whocelebrate His praises bynight and by day. Andthey never grow tired.

    39. And among His signs isthis: you see the earthbarren and desolate, but

when We send down rainto it, it is stirred to life andyields increase. Truly, Hewho gives life to the earthcan surely give life tothose who are dead, for Hehas power over all things

The Main Theme(s)1. The main theme of this passage is Tauheed

or oneness of Allah which is being taught byexplaining His powers.2. Throughout history, many people have

begun worshipping the sun and the moondue to their beauty or power.

    3. The Quran says that these are just signs ofAllah, who is the Creator of all.4. It also explains that Allah is in no need that

people should worship him because He iscontinuously being worshipped by His

angels.5. Similar themes are found in many places inthe Quran such as in Surah Rehman whereAllah states that He has absolute powerover all heavenly bodies.

The Presentation of the Theme1. Tauheed, the theme of this passage is presented

through a distinctive manner of giving examples ofHis power and person.

    2. Another evidence of Tauheed mentioned here is thepower of Allah to give life to the dead.

    3. All these powers, of creation, of giving life and nothaving any need of anyone or anything prove HisSupreme status.

    4. Allah also uses the parable of barren and dry land, which when receives rain becomes alive to explainHis power to bring the dead people back to life onthe Day of Judgment

    5. This is distinctive from other verses such as inSurah Rum where Allah simply states that He willbring back to life without explaining or using anyexample

    The Main Theme(s)

    1. The main theme in this passage is Tauheed

of Allah as everything is His property.2. His greatness and supremacy is evident by

the fact that the heavens are bent and on thebrink of falling to pieces due to the weight ofHis Majestic Being.

    3. It is no wonder that countless angels arecontinuously engaged in glorifying the nameof Allah while seeking forgiveness formankind.

    4. Allah Himself has ordered them to do so as

only He Himself is full of forgiveness andmercy for His creation.5. Thus He has also ordered humankind to

glorify Him and then ask for forgiveness as inmany other verses in the Holy Quran

    The Presentation of the Theme.

    1. This passage presents the great mercy of

Allah by stressing on His supreme majesty.2. The angels not only to celebrate His praise, and also pray for forgiveness for us becauseAllah Himself has ordered them.

    3. The greatness as well as mercy of Allah is

presented here distinctively here by firststating His being the owner and supreme Lordof everyone and everything, yet His beingkind and benevolent to His creatures.

    4. This is a distinct style from Surah Al-Fatihawhere Allah simply announces Himself asmerciful but doesnt discuss His rank andstatus

Main Theme(s)1. This Surah is a comprehensive summary of

Tauheed2. The theme clearly negates Him being the one

and only god, thus defying any parenthood or

kinship assigned to Him by anyone3. It defines the very nature of Allah to be freefrom the phenomenon of birth as He is not inneed of anyone or anything

    4. Allahs attribute AsSamad mentioned here

means He who doesnt need anyone rathereveryone is in need of Him5. Also by saying that He is incomparable with

everything, this Surah negates all forms ofShirk.

  • 7/27/2019 Allah in Himself NEW PDF

    30/31

    The Presentation of the Theme

    1. The Surah Ikhlas presents the theme of

Tauheed in a very distinctive manner from mostother passages of the Holy Quran because it incovers so many aspects of Tauheed in just fourshort sentences

    2. It doesnt offer any sort of explanation or

argument as certain other passages, rather itsimply makes a statement of fact by saying thatAllah is One, Absolute and incomparable toanyone or anything

    3. For example, in Surah Al-Maeda, Allah specifies

that it is disbelief to call Jesus the son of Allah4. But here in Surah Al-Ikhlas, He simply declares

that He doesnt give birth at all5. Thus all false beliefs regarding any son or

    daughter of Allah are shattered.
