About NIPR
• The Nigerian Institute of Publicrelations is the Chartered professionalbody with the role of regulating publicrelations practice and education inNigeria.
• To become a chartered member of theInstitute, individuals are expected to sitfor its certifying exams.
ABOUT NIPR EXAMS
• NIPR Exams is in (3) – Part I, II and II, with 5courses in each part, making a total of 15 coursesin all.
• The Exams are written twice in a year- June/Julyand Nov/Dec.
• The entire programme can be completed withinone (1) year using the accelerated trainingprogramme run by Professional Exams Tutorsan affiliate of The School of BusinessCommunication, a certified training school forthe Institute’s Examinations.
HOW CREDIBLEIS THIS CERTIFICATION?
• Organized public relations in Nigerian havebeen since 1963 with the Public relationsAssociation of Nigeria (PRAN), which laterevolved to become the Nigerian Institute ofPublic Relations (NIPR).
• NIPR became a chartered professional bodyin 1990 and since then has been regulatingthe practice and education of publicrelations in Nigeria.
WHAT DO I NEED TO START? REQUIREMENTS
• Application is open to any individual who desires to build acareer in Public relations or marketing communication.
• It doesn’t matter whether you have a science, social scienceor art background.
BASIC ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS• You can apply for student membership with any of the
following academic level:
• BSC/BA/HND in any course area
• OND
• Senior Secondary School Certificate –SSCE
• ( 5 credits including English Language)
I am a graduate; will I be given any exemptions?
• Graduates of Mass Communication and marketing areusually given exemptions from the Part I and II(Certificate stage) of the Public relations Institute’sProfessional exams and required to sit for the finalstage -part III (Diploma stage).
• However, such an applicant will be required to providean academic transcript to the institute for considerationof exemption request.
• Apart from mass communication and marketinggraduates, every other applicant will be required tostart from the certificate stage.

• Though the Institute gives you amaximum of three (3) years to roundup the programme, you can finish theentire programme in just one yearwith the accelerated study option,which is advisable.
• Note that the exams are written twicein a year (June/July and Nov/Dec)
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?
• Students can combine part I and part II(certificate stage) and write in one sittingand proceed to the final stage in the nextsitting.
• Note that exams are written twice in theyear- June/July and Nov/Dec of each year.That means, you do part I & II in June/Julyfor instance, and then do the final stage inNov/Dec when you passed the 10 courses inthe certificate stage.
Can I break down the courses and write them in bits?
• Yes you can, but we do not advice
you to. Since the courses are
interrelated, the knowledge of one
helps you to deal with the other.
• This way, it is easier to pass all the
papers when you combine Part I &
Part II.

• Sunday – 12 – 4pm
• Weekdays/Private Session: For individuals who arebusy during the weekends and free by weekdays. Theschedule for this is usually arranged to meet thestudent’s timing and convenience.
