Service Design K-5th
All students that are identified gifted and talented are grouped homogenously within the class. The GT certified teacher meets the needs of the students by:
•Extending ideas to specific outcomes•Researching on topics utilizing the internet, resources from the library and through personal interviews.•Extended projects- class and home projects (arts/crafts/language arts)•Taught the skill of communication (classroom presentation to their peers)•Promote leadership roles- UIL, student council , science club, etc.•Promote community services- activities in which students volunteer in our community•Promote Dukes University Talent Search. (4th & 5th grade)•Differentiated Instruction Centers to enhance enrichment (1st & 2nd grade)
* GT teachers have 30 hour initial training and a minimum 6 hour update training every year.
