Arrival in San Francisco – 4.05pm (local time)Clearing CustomsDue to the nature of US Immigration procedures it will take a while to pass through customs. During this time pupils will be organised into their travel groups (8 – 10 pupils) with their group leader. They will be photographed and have their fingerprints taken. They need to carry their own passport at this time. It will be stressed the importance of sensible behaviour and correct procedures to allow us to move through customs as quickly as possible.
We will use Parentmail to inform parents that we have arrived safely

Money
All money needs to be in dollars.
It is hard to give an amount of money that pupils will need , but we are suggesting that they should take at least $25 per day for food.
This would work out at about $250
Spending money will be individual to the person with some wanting to take advantages of opportunities to buy items.
We would recommend that they take no less than $500 in total
We need pupils to be responsible for their own money. We suggest that they do not carry all their money on their person, but in two separate wallets/purses. This will help with security.

Contacting Home
We want parents to feel secure in the knowledge that if there are any problems or concerns that we will inform them immediately.
Pupils will have several ways to contact parents when they wish to (within reason) by using public phones, hotel phones and each hotel has a reception with Email facility.
Pupils will be allowed to have a mobile phone with them at all times during the visit and can contact home at any point. There is a Code of Conduct relating to the use of mobile phones which will be strictly applied. The cost of calls and data as well as the phone are entirely the responsibility of the pupil.

Pupil WelfareIf there are any first time or nervous fliers we would welcome
knowing about this so we can keep an eye an them.
All pupils are advised to add the staff mobile phone number to their contacts and they will be provided with a wristband with the mobile phone number on. Medication
We have medical information for all pupils travelling in the group. Could you please ensure that their child’s information is up to date at the time of travelling. In line with school policy, each travel group leader will have in their possession any prescribed or other medicines needed by pupils. The pupil needs to be responsible for approaching the member of staff at times when they need medication. There may need to be exceptions to this which can be discussed individually with a member of staff.
Mrs Ferguson, Mrs Cooper and Mr Harrison are the qualified first aiders and Mrs Ferguson will carry paracetamol for the group and these can be administered to individuals if needed. We will need parents to sign a consent form to allow us to administer paracetamol to your child

None of the staff have lifesaving qualifications. A male and female member of staff will be present at all the times when pupils are allowed to swim.
Pupils will not be allowed in these pools unless parents have given permission by signing the consent form.
