Thanksgiving Stuffed Shells recipe from Taste of Homes
Leftover turkey, dressing and sweet potatoes make terrific stuffing
for jumbo pasta shells.
Total Time Prep: 25 min. Bake: 15 min. Makes 8 servings Ingredients 24 uncooked jumbo pasta shells 1 cup mashed sweet potatoes 1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese 1/4 teaspoon chili powder, optional 1 cup cubed cooked turkey 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 cup cooked stuffing 1 cup turkey gravy, warmed 4 green onions, chopped Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook shells according to package directions for al
dente. 2. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, mix mozzarella cheese, turkey, stuffing and green
onions. In a small bowl, stir sweet potatoes and, if desired, mix in chili powder. 3. Drain shells; fill each with 2 tablespoons stuffing mixture and 2 teaspoons sweet
potato mixture. Arrange in a greased 11 x 17 in. baking dish; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake, covered, 15-20 minutes or until heated through. Serve with gravy.
If I only…..
This is a common question that dances many people’s mind day and night
throughout life.
If I only had a chance to say once more “I love you” to her/ him.
If I only had a chance to rewind time and do different with her/ him I would have
done it differently. I would have kept her/ him with me and not given them up for
adoption. I would have stayed at her / him bedside till last minute if I had not left the
room and missed my loved one’s departure.
There is a Brazilian music sung by the Group Titãs, which reflects what we are
saying.
“I should have loved more, cried more, watched the sun rises.
I should have risked more and even wronged more having done what I
wanted to do.
I wish I had accepted people more like they are because everyone knows
the joy and the pain it brings in everyone’s heart.
Destiny will protect me while I walk distracted.
Chance will protect me while I walk.
It should have complicated less, worked less, to have seen the sun set
I should have cared less with small problems and to have died of love.
I wish I had accepted more life as it is. You know each one of us has joys
and sadness that comes along life.
Destiny will protect me while I walk distracted. Chance will protect
me while I walk.
It should have complicated less, worked less, to have seen the sun set
I should have cared less with small problems and to have died of love.”
November 1st was All Saints Day. November 11th is Remembrance Day and
November 22nd is Thanksgiving Day.
This may be a day where those ‘If only…?’ questions pop up in your head like pop
corn; and it may reveal pain, frustration and your limitation before life and death.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:4, “Happy are people who grieve, because they will be made
glad.” as awkward as it sounds, when you grieve the loss of a loved one by natural
death, or tragedy, the loss of a house or a church like Wesley UMC just did, the loss
of a friend, a spouse who run away from marriage, a pet, or any other loss, we have
the chance to experience God’s grace.
On Thanksgiving Day, Celebrate, even if your “If only…” questions are dancing in
your head, be thankful for your loved ones who left before you. You could have done
nothing different. Be at peace because God knows what you could or not could do.
Do not blame yourself. God invites you to go ahead and be open to receive grace.
Be thankful even those it is hurting. You are a child of God. You have a chance to

write your future differently. No matter what, Jesus promised I will be
with you always. Let Jesus be with you. Stop running away! Accept his
love for you.
Remember you are a loving child of God. And His grace is
abundantly available for you. Jesus also said: “I’ve said these things to
you so that you will have peace in me. In the world you have distress.
But be encouraged! I have conquered the world.”
Change the culture of blaming yourself for not having done what you
think you should have done before your loved one passed, or left you, or
asking WHY ME?
Another question could be asked is: What is it for, God that I should go
through this painful experience?
God graciously tells us because my presence is always with you.
Because in pain, you experience grace for so many others who freely
care for you.
Because the circle of life is: “there is a time for everything Ecclesiastes 3.
Are you suffering, yet be a signal of grace to those who suffer and God
sends the Holy Spirit to graciously care for you?
Be open to see. Be open to receive. Be open to share, Be open to be in
peace. Happy Thanksgiving day in Christ’s love and grace. Amen!
