Straddle Mount (Str/Mt)Straddle mount hangers are for use with box type frames.Each hanger straddles the frame and is welded to both sidesof the frame.

Fabricated (H) Cast (CH)

Under Mount Un/mt)Under Mount hangers arewelded flush to the bottomof the frame.

Side Mount (Si/mt)Side mount hangers arewelded to the side of theframe. They are useful onflatbed sliders and"maximum cube" vans.

Under Mount Weld-On(Un/mt/wo) orSide Mount Weld-On(Si/mt/wo)The versatile cast weld-onhangers can be used foreither under mount or sidemount applications.

CapacityThe 9700 series suspension has a Gross Axle Weight Rating (G.A.W.R.) of 22,400 lbs when equipped with single leaf,two leaf, standard three leaf and seven leaf springs. Heavy duty three leaf and eight leaf springs raise the G.A.W.R. to24,000 lbs.

Ordering a 9700 Series Suspension SystemThe following options need to be considered when ordering a "Hutch" 9700 Series suspension:

1. The number of axles - on a tandem, standard axle spacing is 49" unless otherwise specified.2. Choose the type of hanger. (See hanger types in this catalog.)

Specify fabricated (H) or cast (CH).3. Determine the mounting height you need. A mounting height chart is shown below.

Mounting height depends onSuspension configuration - Overslung for standard range of mountingheights; Underslung for when lower mounting heights are required.Axle size - 5 inch round is considered standard.Spring Seat Height: Available in heights from 3/4" to 4-3/4" in 1/2" increments.Spring Type. Consideration is given to number of leaves and arch, standard or heavyduty. The spring seat height and the spring determine the length of u-bolts required.

4. Choose u-bolt diameter - 7/8" is standard, 3/4" is optional.

HUTCHENS H-900 SERIES SINGLE POINT SUSPENSIONSApplicationThe 900 series suspensions are designed for heavy-duty and/or off-road applications. The 900 is a single pointsuspension connected to the trailer frame by a trunnion located at the center of the suspension. This makes it idealfor logging, heavy load hauling and dump operations.CapacityThe 900 series suspensions are available in Gross Tandem Weight Ratings (GTWR) of 36,000, 42,000, 44,000, 50,000and 60,000 lbs.OptionsNumerous mounting heights (Mtg./Ht. = The vertical distance from the centerline of the axle to the top of the trunnionhanger), axle and trunnion combinations are possible. These include overslung (OS, springs over axles) andunderslung (US, springs under axles) axle units as well as overslung (springs over trunnion) and underslung (springsunder trunnion) trunnion configurations.

Standard trunnion hanger spacing is 22-1/8" for 38" springcenters. Trunnion centers of 20-1/8" can be specified whilemaintaining 38" spring centers.

Trunnion bushings of either rubber or UHMW Polyethylene("free oscillating") are available. Unless otherwise specified,trunnion bushings are assumed to be rubber.

When installing your 900 series suspension, adequatevertical clearance must be provided for tires, springs andU-bolts. This is usually accomplished through the use of amounting bracket or pedestal.

How To Order Your 900 Series Single PointSuspension System1. Determine which 900 series suspension will meet

your weight requirements - 36,000#, 42,000#,44,000#, 50,000#, or 60,000# GTWR(Gross Tandem Weight Rating).

2. Select a mounting height that corresponds to yourparticular situation. See the Axle Specifications andMounting Heights Charts in this catalog.

3. Axle configuration - Overslung or Underslung4. Axle size - 5", 53/4", 6" round or 5" X 5" square.5. Trunnion configuration - Overslung or Underslung6. Trunnion hanger height - 21/2", 41/2", 61/2" or 81/2". In

many instances more than one combination willresult in the same mounting height. Therefore, all ofthe aforementioned factors should be taken intoconsideration when ordering as well as the following:
