Buckinghamshire County Council School Improvement Service Ali Szwagrzak School Improvement Adviser [email protected] Ali is has worked in Education for almost 30 years in both Primary and Secondary phases originally starting in secondary school moving to primary with 16 years of experience in senior Leadership under his belt including a specialism in SEND. Ali has been credited with significant improvements in Ofsted grades in all the schools he has worked. Whilst in headship Ali served as Chairman of BASL at the most successful time in BASL’s history under Ali’s skilful leadership. BASL was able to offer training and coaching and mentoring to heads for the first time through programmes such as Headspace and 1:1 mentoring. This work supported team by coaching and mentoring leaders in other schools facing challenging circumstances maximising their potential, leading on learning and eventually working as the attached adviser to a large North Area Liaison Group. Ali is currently a School Improvement Adviser in the South of the County and attached adviser to three Liaison Groups – in Amersham, in Chesham and also, to the Federation of Small Schools (FOSS) which he facilitates similarly to other liaison groups. This year for the first time FOSS will be holding their inaugural Conference with external speakers. Ali has also just completed Ofsted Training, and is increasingly becoming involved in training on the Ofsted courses, Performance Management, Leadership and Management and on Lesson Observation Skills (WIGL) training for Senior Leaders and teachers. He also supports Governor Services with training for new Governors through their Induction Days and with training for New Chairmen.
